The buzz around DJ Amir usually includes one of the following phrases: "The Chosen One" or "The LeBron James Of The Wax- Spinner Scene." In a city oozing DJ talent, this talk isn't taken lightly. Especially considering Amir is only 27. Known for his lightning-fast cuts and scratches, Amir is a shining example of what's become a Philly DJ trademark: using technical turntable mastery to rock a party.
DJ Amir started DJing in 2001 when his mother bought him his first turntable set. The next summer Amir became a fixture at Armand's Records where he met one of his earliest mentors DJ Fatcat who in turn introduced him to DJ Touchtone. It was Touchtone who gave Amir the opportunity to master his craft. Practicing at radio station 103.9 led to Amir getting his first weekend gig spinning at Sneaker Villa in the Gallery Mall.
DJ Amir credits music to saving his life and giving him purpose. At just 27 years of age Amir has already accomplished so much in his music career, and he's just getting started. Being a DJ has led him to develop relationships with some of the most prominent names in music. His first industry break came at the hands of former Roc A Fella recording artist Beanie Sigel. Amir was featured on Sigel's last album "The Solution." That relationship led to other opportunities such as touring with Meek Mill as his official DJ on the "Dreams and Nightmares Tour" as well as being his DJ at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards. Recently DJ Amir signed a lucrative endorsement deal with apparel brand PUMA.
Music has given Amir everything, and through music he's been able to formulate friendships with a lot of influential people. None more so than his friendship with Washington Redskins star wide receiver DeSean Jackson. With holding a very close friendship with DeSean, Amir was able to take his talents and open new doors in his career. With currently being DeSean's very own personal dj, Amir has been able to provide his talents for numerous different events held by DeSean. From in-store events and appearances, events associated with "The DeSean Jackson Foundation" to yearly "Stop The Bullying" appearances at the local high schools, Amir and DeSean still continue to work together and hold a very close friendship.
