Island Rose & The Vibrashens formed in September 2014.   Consisting of veteran reggae musicians from the Austin/San Antonio area, Island Rose & The Vibrashens produce an original roots reggae sound.  Our influences include Bob Marley & The Wailers, Burning Spear, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, The Itals, The Meditations, Toots & The Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Bunny Wailer, The I-Threes, etc...  Our goal is to continue to spread roots reggae music to all four corners of the Earth, as our reggae forefathers did.

BAND MEMBERS:

ISLAND ROSE (Lead Singer): 

Raised in the Parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica, she was exposed to various types of indigenous music through the eyes of her great-great grandmother.  Roots reggae music is a calling for her, even though she has lent her vocals to Rap, Funk, and other genres.  She has performed festivals, and throughout the state of Texas.  Island Rose has shared the stage with the likes of reggae legend Sugar Minott, Eric Roberson, and Warrior King.

 ESTEVAN "JAH LIGHT" (Guitar):

Known on stage as "Jah Light", Estevan has 15 years experience playing the guitar.  He has toured throughout the United States.  Jah Light has backed such artist as General Smiley, Warrior King, Alika, Mistah Kali, Sgt. Remo, Dub Gideon, Jahn Ti of Buffalo Soldier, Conkarah, and Houseblend.  He has opened up for Kabaka Pyramid, Fortunate Youth, Inna Vision, Josh Heinrichs, Skillinjah, The Wailers, Everton Blender, Channel One, Spies Like Us, The Pepperpots, The Toasters, Los Skarnales, and Dub Tonic Kru.  Estevan has performed at various festivals such as Austin Reggae Fest, SXSW, Reggae In The Hills(CA), Afr'am Reggae Festival, Austin's Reggae Wildfire, and San Antonio Reggae Festival.

 FAUSTO "KEEZEE" (Keyboards):

Known on stage as "Keezee", Fausto has more than 20 years experience playing the keyboards.  He was introduced to roots reggae at a young age, and had the opportunity to attend Jamaica's Reggae Sunsplash in 1987.  Fausto has toured throughout the United States and Mexico.  He has performed in various reggae bands including New World Society, Dub Gideon, and Sol Tribe.  He has backed up artists such as Likkle Shanx of Roots Revealers, Jahn Ti of Buffalo Soldier, Mistah Kali, Sgt. Remo, Alika, General Smiley, Warrior King, and Conkarah.  He has opened up for The Wailers, The Itals, The Abyssinians, Everton Blender, Leroy Shakespeare and The Ship of Vibes, and the legendary Freddie McGregor.  Fausto has performed at various festivals including San Antonio Reggae Salute Festival, Austin Reggae Fest, SXSW, Austin's Wildfire Reggae Festival, Reggae in the Hills(CA), Lafayette Reggae Festival, Afr'am Reggae Festival, and San Antonio Reggae Festival.

 RICK "FARMALEE" ALEXANDER (Bass):

Born in Trinidad, Rick resides in Texas and has opened up for legends King Yellowman and Jimmy Cliff. Rick has played bass for Exuma, and JOB Orchestra. His musical influence and ability spans many genres of music to include Blues, Country/Western, Funk, Jazz, and Calypso.

 GLEN "PATCH" ALEXANDER (Percussion):

Native of Trinidad, Glen has been playing guitar and percussion since he was 14 years old. Glen was co-founder of New York-based Warika, and was also a member of K55 of New York City. When Glen arrived in Texas, he joined Reggae-Funk band New World Society of San Antonio.
