Gary was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT. He had a love for music that still goes on today. As a kid growing up he played drums in a few local bands, but his real passion was singing, he always wanted to be in a vocal group. He would watch the Dick Clark Show and think one day I'm gonna be on this show. At the age of 17 Gary tried out and became a member of a Bridgeport group called the Glenwoods, which later became the Citations and then the Chateaus. The Glenwoods recorded a single called (That's the way It'll be) backed with Elaine, which Gary sang. Then as the Chateaus they had a single called (Summer's Here) which Gary wrote but due to contract dispute came out under the names Paul Leka and Nick Dellelio, backed with (Honest I Will). These are collectors items today. After that Gary went on to start a few groups, Gary and the Coachmen, the Checkmates and then with the Orchids. Gary put out a single with them which came out under the name Gary Carl and the Orchids and was called (You'll Get Yours Someday) which Gary wrote with his friend Dale Frashuer. He stayed with this group for 5 years. This was an excellent r & b horn group, that played several clubs and colleges. But it came to an end when Gary realized that they didn't want to travel because of jobs and marriage. So now he went into NY and started door knocking with a recording he made in NJ. and bumped into an old friend Paul Leka and he began to hang out with him which eventually led to Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye being recorded and put out. In about 6 months Na Na became number one in this country and top ten in just about every country in the world. At that time Gary sang under the name Garrett Scott. Na Na which has been in just about every sitcom on tv starting with Cheers, has been in several movies and many commercials. It is in it's 44th year and is still going and so is Gary. Gary has been on the PBS show 60's Pop Rock And Soul, has also done shows in Tenn, Ohio, NY, NJ, CA, Utah, PA, and MA. And now Gary has a new dance version out called Kiss Him Goodbye which is getting a very good response from Dj's and fans. It is done by Gary DeCarlo and Steam. You can find him and the single on iTunes, facebook, with a video and reverbnation and he also has a fan page. Check him and the new Kiss Him Goodbye out.
