Jake started out as a percussionist and at the age of 15 when he got an opportunity to do his first professional tracking with a local band and Producer Steve Browne from Big Time Audio. This ignited his love for music and shortly after he started gigging weekly with local groups playing between 2-4 shows every week.
For the next couple of years Jake picked up numerous instruments including the guitar, bass, organ, piano, accordion, and mandolin. From the ages of 19 - 24 Jake spent months touring part-time and full-time as a professional keyboardist for different local and nationally known groups. Over the past couple of years Jake has played hundreds of shows all over the United States and parts of Europe.
During these years of touring Jake played on over 40 radio singles and albums with other groups and has produced a number of records through his own production company. Jake now does all his own recording, producing, editing, engineering, mixing and mastering. In his free time Jake does what ever he can to help out local artists get up off their feet.
With hard work and dedication Jake has made a name for himself in the industry as a professional pianist and has had the opportunity to open and share the stage with artists Nelly, Chris Young, Matt White, SleeperStar, Randy Rogers, Josh Abbott, Chiddy Bang, Jillian Edwards, David Ryan Harris, Roger Creager, The Secret Handshake, Jack Ingram, Kevin Fowler, Chris Rice, Fiction Plane, Aaron Watson, Mike Studd, Bart Crow along with many others with his own group and as a keyboardist for other known groups.
Through years of experience playing, writing, and composing, Jake has found his own unique style by using his skills as a keyboardist to mix spoken word hip hop with soul, funk and rock. With this, Jake released his debut album "Clockwork" in 2014 which brought such a buzz that Jake gained over 100,000 combined social media followers in just 14 months. Jake then released his first full length album "Echoes" which reached number #7 on the New Release Best Sellers iTune charts. Jake is starting to get more regional and national attention from radio stations, blogs, and Television outlets.
After being on the road for 5 years playing for other groups, Jake finally moved back to his home town of Dallas TX in late 2015 to focus on pushing his own project. After months of auditions Jake has found the perfect group of solid gifted musicians to join him on stage and now Jake and his group strive to put on a high-energy unforgettable performance at every show.
"Music is my life, and I gave it everything I have. There is no going back now. Without these keys, I am nothing but a broken dream". said Jake in a recent interview. With the heart and soul that Jake and his group possess, it seems like nothing will stop them from making Jake Dexter and The Main Street Sound, a household name.
