Jody Medford was born in Enka NC . His love for music was greatly influenced by his mother who recognized his talent at an early age and encouraged him to pursue his dream. At the age of 16 Jody began singing bass for a local gospel group.
Jody was influenced at an early age by some of country music's lower voiced singers such as Johnny Cash, Richard Sturban of the Oak Ridge Boys and Harold Reed of the Statler Brothers. growing up Jody was a fan of southern rock, one of his favorite singers of all time is the late Danny Joe Brown former lead singer for Molly Hatchet. Jody feels that for being a low note singer nobody has done this style he is doing because he's doing the low vocals but with a rockin country edge.
As he became older his voice got lower . He traveled for several years, full time, with some of the biggest gospel names in the country. He has had the privilege of performing in shows in Branson Missouri and in Pigeon Forge Tenn. including theme parks such as Dollywood and Silver Dollar City.
After moving back to NC, Jody and his friend started a country band. Although the band had success and a National single release the group disbanded. Jody then decided to strike out on his own.
He and friend Kimo Forrest, guitarist for Alabama and Cash Creek, have teamed up for a hit song Moonshine. After recording the song, they contacted Keech Rainwater, drummer for Lonestar, to write and produce a video for the song. Jody has filmed several videos for his soon to be released cd titled back to the country which will soon be available on iTunes and in select Walmarts around the country. The song everyone seems is a hit off of this CD is a song called (southern born southern bred). It is another collaboration with Cash Creek. You can see his music videos on Cmt.com and on youtube.
Jody's talent has landed him a sponsorship with Strains of Music and booking agency A and Z Entertainment. He is one of if not the lowest singer in country music, and with his style covering everything from Johnny Cash to the rocking country of today. Jody's music fits any country music fans taste.
