You could call Laurelle a creative chameleon … because as an artist, she can instantly switch into new genres and styles - all on a whim … And that's precisely how she likes it. Lyndsi "Laurelle" Hicks was born June 1st, 1992 at Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia. From an early age, Laurelle had developed an early passion for music. Her father, John and Tammi, both in a band, had a studio set up in their home that would help shape her into a young musician.
At the age of 6, Laurelle was struck with viral and bacterial meningitis that nearly took her life. But when she was found singing Celine Dion's, “My Heart Will Go On,” from there her destiny was for told. By the age of 10 she had performed in many talent shows, and various music competitions around the Northern Virginia area.
After realizing her true calling, she quickly went to work on writing and perfecting her craft.
In her early teens, Laurelle had started working on her first demo that consisted of four cover songs and one original entitled, “B-O-Y.” From there she realized that her passion was no longer a dream, but a reality. Laurelle continued to work hard by enrolling in vocal lessons, competing in competitions, and performing at local spots around the area.
Once she seen how her music attracted people, and drawing them into her as an artist, she knew it was time to step her game up to another level. In 2010 Laurelle teamed up with, Andre Taylor, who would help do just that. By helping her collaborate with local artist all the way to Miami, FL, it was then they knew it was time for hits of their own.
The first single, “Compare to you”, went on to help Laurelle not only reach #1 on the Top 50 Independent Charts for internet radio, but also help land her a spot in Hip Hop weekly in October of 2012. That single would then be followed by “Years Ago” and “Time.” Which both received ample amounts of radio play.
Now, with a taste of success, she knew it was time to create a piece of music that would create a dynamic sound. This is where Laurelle’s latest single, All The Way, would be born. A creative sound combining R&B, Hip Hop, and Pop. This track has produced quite the buzz thus far. This track has helped Laurelle be published in seven online magazines: Middle Tennessee Music, Junior’s Cave Golden Isles Online, Rags to Reggae, Tone Black Productions LLC, iMoveiLive Online Music Magazine, Fern Music, and Music Arts Monthly. This is only the beginning for the single with nothing less than greatness in it’s sights.
“I’m not afraid of trying something new,” Explains Laurelle. "As an artist you must have confidence - and take risks - all while knowing your limits. No matter what song, style or genre I am working in, my goal is to ensure my music touches people in a positive manner.”
Laurelle went number one on the Top 50 Independent Chart, with her song, Compare to you.
Song debuted on commercial radio.
In October of 2012 Laurelle was featured in Hip Hop Weekly for one of the top independent artist.
