Michael E Frith had piano lessons as a young child but was really turned on to music in big way when Motown hit him like a ton of bricks in the early sixties, he was smitten and from that time on he’s had a love affair with music.
He joined various cover bands and toured the Euro/American Navy and Air force bases playing keyboards and percussion and enjoyed a short stint with U.S. vocal group Johnny Johnson and the Bandwagon, who had a massive hit worldwide with “Breaking Down The Walls Of Heartache.”
Michael started to compose and was enabled to fully realise the music in his mind when the digital/software age arrived, this allowed him to create full arrangements. With this evolution, he was free to conjure up wonderful sounds, haunting melodies and explore so many musical landscapes. Michael was well and truly hooked and it was a new beginning for him.
The Café Del Mar compilations were another major influence, he was hearing electronica mixed with more organic sounds. The music he was drawn to on these compilations had it’s roots in soul, jazz, classical and soundtrack music.
In 2006, Michael E was finally in a position to dedicate his life fully to the pursuit of his musical dream. When the chance came along he grasped it wholeheartedly and he has never looked back. His first release in the chilled/lounge genre was in 2006 and ever since has simply made up for lost time and on the way has gathered a loyal fan base.

My brand spanking new album Out Of Reach is out 11th March 2016
My latest album is available now
I took the latest CD release from Michael E. “Welcome To My World” with me to compliment a walk at the beach today. With the sound of the Northwest Pacific crashing some 50 feet below me his opening track, “The Analyst” seemed as natural a sound as all the natural beauty around me. The song, “Serenity” seemed to confirm all that is Life on a beautiful early Spring day such as I was having today. The track, “There Was a Moment” is an acoustic melody with a much deeper and almost spiritual connection for the listener. Opening with a pensive and soothing acoustic piano, it builds with intensity like an Oscar winning motion picture. The entire musical project is one of the best I’ve heard from this talented artist Michael E. and will be on my life long lists of favourites. On a day that I went out to the beach just to do some thinking, I found Michael’s CD “Welcome To My World” the perfect companion. It is indeed the ‘thinking person’s music’!

Welcome To My World
Michael E. 2015
You maybe in: London, Sydney, Beijing, Tokyo, Paris, Rio, Amsterdam, New York, any big city for that matter ... a small Micronesian Island or staring up a curtain of Northern Lights in Reykjavik ... the fact is, if you fall under the spell of Michael E's Global Music Menagerie --- You are in his World.
2015 opens up with 10 spectral tracks from one of the planet's current wizard of musical atmospherics.
On Welcome To My World Michael's transcendental affection for borderless music is once again on display. Paired with his seasoned attachment to Natural Melodicity, flawless use of all imaginable rhythm and a deep bond with lush orchestrations --- this is a straightforward Michael E. Effect, that will take hold of moments, moods and maybe the flow of random expressions.
Should you find yourself in a timeless landscape ... caught between staying or leaving ... maybe, eye to eye with someone at heartbeat's range ... where fate is done intervening --- Welcome to Michael E.'s world.
Find yourself in a track: The inner thoughts entwined with the flute in The Analyst. Does she make you think or dream? Bask in the warmth and radiance of Isabella's riveting smile ... a scene suspended in harmonic
3-D ... this piece proves that everything connects to the heart, and everything coming from the heart is felt. Hamma Baa, a song that comes like a rush of wind on another atmosphered blue planet.
A triple-star world caught in a beautiful afternoon and if they need the Night to Fall ... the natives must chant to the rhythm of the wind ... O sorro sorro ... o sorro sorro sorro ... hamma baa.
Welcome To My World, the title track showcases Michael's natural cinematic gift. An alternating trumpet / soaring voice highlight, accelerating synth accent and steady hypnotic beat that's in search of a movie ... an introduction ... an ending. This composition is phased for any light, any focus to bring up the glow of imagery in a motion picture.
The Album as a whole is a panoramic look at the kind of artistry that leaves an imprint. The imprint of someone who has listened to some of the most beautiful and innovative minds in music. When you listen with your soul ... all in between; whatever colours missed, comes out as filtered mastery of an artform.
Welcome once again to the beautiful world of Michael E.

What we think.
We at Musical-Things are very big fans of chill out/lounge/ambient music, so listening to the taster to Michael E’s Little Blue Planet was just a joy.
This music is all about the aural atmosphere, effortlessly transporting you away from the physical into Michael E’s sound world. His mix of stimulating but unobtrusive percussion sets the perfect scene for all occasions – from listening on a stressful journey home from work to lounging in the garden on a sunny day with a glass of wine. With names like ‘Summer Song’, ‘Turquoise’ and ‘Breathe in breathe out,’ it is hard to resist being taken in to the titles, which are clearly reflected in the music.
There are beautiful acoustic piano moments in which it is difficult to avoid being drawn into the melody, as the strings seamlessly balloon behind it providing effortless support. These moments contrast well with the more ethnic inspired tracks, where tribal calls and vocals are blended with multi-layered electronic backings with bursts of acoustic instrumentation keeping it fresh and varied. Michael E uses a variety of instrumentation through out the album, from classical and jazz to more unusual natural sounds and ethnic instruments creating an amazing eclectic mix when combined with the electronic elements.
So what is our conclusion? You do not need to be a fan of chill out and ambient music to enjoy the music of Michael E. You cannot fault his precision and careful construction of peaceful harmonic spaces, which would entice even the most conservative listener.
In his mix of everyday sound effects, subtle percussion, stereo mixing and production, Michael E has created a soundscape that you will find hard to escape from once you lose yourself in the tranquillity. But this is not uninspiring tranquillity where the listener’s brain becomes unengaged. Michael’s music merely provides the right musical environment to enhance the listener’s mental space and allows every aspect of the music to seep into the listener’s aural crevices.
