Music has always played a big part in her life. From early childhood, she played 70’s rock licks on guitar before starting music lessons with a church organist. Once at primary school, she played flute in the orchestra and learned music theory. By high school with rebellion the focus, she played electric guitar, mainly Punk and Grunge but listened to a lot of Hip-Hop, Rap, and Trip-Hop. As a young adult, she played percussive world music, mostly African Marimbas, and Drumming. The amalgamation and integration of her musical journey, echo’s throughout her tracks...Check out her website @ https://www.orthentix.com for more info!
First release from Australian female music producer Orthentix, the album Fractured is one to take you on an aural ride. Fractured explores the notions of the cracks within the human being, and the broken being more beautiful than the complete. As our dreams and hopes fall from our hands and shatter into a million pieces, how do we find the beauty in the broken? We wind sturdy bandages of golden resin around the cracks in our hearts. Conceptualized from Kintsukuroi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold and understanding that the piece is more beautiful for having been broken. Due out 21st of April 2017 be sure to grab a copy, available at most online music stores or bandcamp https://orthentix.bandcamp.com/
Orthentix performed and mixed the tracks for an all girl hip hop group SistaGurl at Woodford Folk Festival 2014-2015. They performed eight gigs over the six days.
Come along to Nimbin Mardi Grass and show your support with Orthentix and SistGurl all girl hip-hop at Nimbin Mardi Grass Mingle Park Stage.
Fractured is a collective of female artists collaborating to co create a astonishing visionary performance, encompassing electronic music, contemporary dance, live visual art. The Fractured concept comes from Kinsukuroi is the Japanese art of applying gold or silver paint within the cracks of broken ceramics. It is believed that the object becomes more beautiful after it has been broken. Taking this idea as a metaphorical concept Fractured explores notions of the broken, the beautiful and the journey from one to the other.
