Suns of Dub is a label, group and performing dub-production team creating a unique sound experience driven by dub influenced genres, merging live instruments, and original Rockers Reggae Sounds with a new age dub style and innovative ideas, Suns of Dub incorporates live instruments and dubbing, selecting, and composition into one musical entity.
Team is lead by Ras Jammy a young entrepreneur & dub enthusiast who who manages a community of musicians, producers and artists under the production label including Jah Bami, CP.U and more and would later became manager, deejay and co-producer, coining the phrase and bringing into manifestation Suns of Dub.
In 2010, while visiting Jamaica, Ras Jammy teamed up with Addis Pablo Son of Legendary Melodica Player Augustus Pablo. Along with Trinidad Vocalist & Panist 'Jah Bami' the trio came together to present Dub Reggae in a new age format while upholding the traditional elements of the classic Rockers Reggae Music. Having since released over 100 pieces of music in the form of Mixtapes, EPs, Compilations, Singles & Downloads, collaborating with world renowned Major Lazer, Chronixx, Protoje, Mighty Crown, Inner Circle, Clive Chin, Toddla T, Jesse Royal, Cali P, Sizzla, Norris Man, Queen Omega, Prince Alla, Jah 9, Midnite, Jamie Rodigan, Toddla T, Dubkasm and Masia One to name a few. Suns of Dub has been able to capture the hearts of rockers & dub lovers worldwide, as a fresh brand out of the Caribbean, working consistently to further the expansion of their music across a global network of followers.
Suns of Dub released their first Vinyl Record with Royal Order Music ‘Selassie Souljahz in Dub’ mixed by Ras Jammy and took to Europe on an independent promotional tour in 2013. The release is continuously championed by BBC 1XTRA’s ‘Sir David Rodigan MBE’ and is considered by him as “One of the best Dub records for decades, since the time of King Tubby & Augustus Pablo”. Their 2013 tour, and masterful work on ‘Selassie Souljahz in Dub’ earned them great recognition in the region, brining soul shaking dub performances on the sound systems across Europe with featured performances at Reggae Geel, Garance Festival & more .
Later in 2013 the Suns surprised many and expanded the reach of their sound by collaborating with world renowned DJ Walshy Fire of Major Lazer to release the self-titled mixtape ‘Major Lazer presents – Suns of Dub’. The download was made available on various musical platforms and gained recognition for its progressive sound and innovation of dub reggae.
2014 saw Suns of Dub opening for, ‘Skrillex’ and ‘Major Lazer’, along with performances featuring Jah Bami with Grammy Award winning Hip Hop Soul Band ‘The Roots’, performances & magazine features with Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, and continued headlines & features on events along the Reggae, Dub & Electronic Music circuits worldwide, having performed in Mexico, Wales, North America, Canada, UK, the Caribbean, England, all around Asia and countless Music Festivals throughout Europe.
A successful and more focused 2015 brought more physical expansion with the incorporation of more live elements & different styles of performances lead by Jammy's live dub technique and Jah Bami's Steel Pan.
March 2015 brought about the release of the groundbreaking MightyCrown meets Suns of Dub ‘Far East Mixtape’ featuring a host of specials & exclusive pre-releases, followed by a full scale UK promotional Tour throughout April with a special follow up collaboration between iconic fashion company KANGOL, Rockers International & Suns of Dub, seeing the the release of Radio Kangol a new Radio Streaming platform featuring a Rockers International Station curated by Suns of Dub's Ras Jammy, and the follow up release of a collaborative hat. Suns of Dub's 2015 Summer tour throughout July & August, saw them breakout onto some of the biggest world music stages in Europe including Dour Festival. November 2015 saw the Release and Promo Tourfor the Suns of Dub ‘Far East Dub’ LP, the debut ‘Suns of Dub’ album per se, which features vocals & melodica from Jah Bami & Addis Pablo repesctively, with mixes by Ras Jammy & Suns of Dub background composer ‘P-Dub’ with music by his Dub Assassins band. The album explores the original deep roots approach to dub music .
2016 followed with a larger focus on composition and producito for Suns of Dub with Jammy producing and releasing the Lovers Rock smasher 'Winter Mornings' with Randy Valentine' 'Revelation Time EP' by Roots by Nature, the digital dub EP series 'Dub Inna New Age I, II & III' and a first of its kind electro-dub meets steel pan EP featuring Pan Master Derron Ellies.. Ras Jammy went on to release a few mixtapes introducing female vocalist Reemah to the seen launching her career with the 'This is Reemah Mixtape'. Summer was ended in fine style with a stellar performance at one of Europes biggest Dub stages Reggae Geel Festival, where Suns of Dub featured Jamaican Legend Prince Alla, and Addis Pablo on his final performance with the group, before going solo.
VP & GREENSLEEVES RECORDS collaborated with the crew in the beginning of 2017 to bring about their second installment of 'Riddimentary', a curated compilation series followed by a special extended mix, first done by Diplo for VP a few years early, Riddimentary, release worldwide on Vinyl, CD & all digital platforms, curated & mixed by Ras Jammy with toastin contributions from Jah Bami and minor Melodica, the Riddimentary Release saw raved reviews across the circuit. March saw the release of 'Soca on Dub' a groundbreaking production by Jah Bami & WuDub out of Germany, the track is a sonic remixed and totally dubbed out Soca Track best expplained in the sound and name 'Soca on Dub'. Cool & Easily Jah Bami immediately released as a follow up his debut album '20/20' produced by 'P-Dub' in New Jersey. Continued growth and recognition saw Suns of Dub being called to performing on the main stage at the renowned BoomTown Fair, UK & One Love Festival, UK.
More music and productions followed with Ras Jammy collaborating and pushing to the forefront a female French composer/singer/dj named 'Ms Mavy' releasing the 'Roots are the Future' Mixtape & more, Jah Bami's self produced 'Culture without Ego' Album resulting in performances and appearences across the US, Verse iTal's long awaited LP release featuring the Suns of Dub 100% Dub mix, and a string of digital dub releases futuring Suns of Dub signature new-age dub style. 'Major (Remix)' a remix single featuring WU-TANG Clan's RZA and Suns of Dub Far East Empress Masia One made waves hitting the ground running in a different Hip Hop Dub Style. The Final releases for the Year was our 'Mankind Riddim' EP, which paid homage to Delroy Wilson and Rockers Music, featuring artists ; Jalifa, Saah Karim, Roots by Nature, Jah Bami & more, with extra composition by Gia Miraflow from Italy and the mega underground smash hit produced by UK powerhouse UNIT 137 with Jah Bami on vocals 'Nah Join'.
2019 sees the Suns of Dub's restructuring to more instrumental and live-dub infused performances and of course more music starting the year with the 'Never Lose Hope' single & remix EP done in collaboration with UK based collective Lost on Green Mile featuring 'Pzed on vocals with a hail of remix contributions featuring Unit 137, Ms Mavy, Jah Bami, Ras Jammy & more. Plans to touch road manifest in April 2019 as Suns of Dub returns to Europe to Alicante, Spain to begin their 2019 Spring Euro/UK Tour featuring Earl Sixteen at International Dub Gathering and ending in the Balkans.
