The first solo release from Washington DC Native Andaiye , STORYVILLE showcases an ever-evolving singer, songwriter, producer and performer. Her jazz collection STORYVILLE delivers a fresh spin on classic jazz standards and features songs such as "God Bless The Child" and "Summertime". Andaiye offers new but timeless interpretations of songs from the Great American Jazz Songbook and wrote many additional verses, bridges and spoken word prose as additions to the otherwise short jazz tunes. Other songs such as "You Oughta Know" and "Love Alive" reveal her musical ear as an arranger as evidenced by the reworking of these classic rock songs into soulful renditions of love lost. Andaiye offers a glimpse of the future on the only original song on the project entitled "Much Betta" as a bonus track showcasing her jazz roots with her neo-soul adolescence. Influenced by contemporary artists such as Liz Wright and Meshelle Ndegeocello, Andaiye's alto voice on STORYVILLE is sultry and soulful.
