An accomplished piano-player with a voice to rival the world’s strongest female vocalists, this gifted artist has been honing her talents since the age of six and she now exudes the quiet confidence of a young woman who is ready to take on the world. Mancunian singer-songwriter Anisa has the talent, work ethic, determination and passion to do just that.
Her piano-playing ability, song-writing skills and breathtaking soulful vocals have already drawn the attention of incredible artists such as Keyshia Cole, Tank & Mr.Probz who came across her addictive YouTube channel and got in touch with her right away. She recently wrote a song with Brian McKnight, one of her biggest inspirations, after he too came across her singing one of his songs, and invited her to his home studio in LA. She describes this music moment as “the most unforgettable moment of her entire life”. Anisa has plans to soon work with legend and vocal inspiration Wanya Morris, who became an unconditional fan of her voice and music after they incredibly spent “4hours drinking milkshakes, eating burgers and listening to her music in Vegas”. He follows her every step in the industry since and has become a musical godfather to her.
Anisa writes all her own songs and states that the only way she knows how is “with her whole heart on her sleeve”. She admits, “Over-thinking lyrics and melodies just kills a song” and that “most often, the first thing that comes to mind will be the most honest, raw and emotive”. Songwriting for other artists has always been a huge part of Anisa’s dream and since a young age she would write with specific artists in mind. This all paid off when a song she co-wrote called “Piano” made it onto superstar Ariana Grande’s number one debut album! Anisa just signed her first publishing deal and describes this as a huge milestone in her music career. She also co-wrote the next single for Sweden’s platinum selling artist "Frans" and will shortly feature on some UK dance releases, after her vocals conquered the hearts of numerous DJ/Producers.
A captivating performer, Anisa has supported the likes of James Arthur and Bridget Kelly on stage in her second hometown of London. Most recently she opened up the show for one of her biggest inspirations, US superstar, Brandy, at the Indigo O2 London. Her talent sees her often cited as “One To Watch” by renowned media outlets such as SBTV, RWD, MTV, & Urban Development. She was recently invited to perform at the legendary Maida Vale studios in London by the BBC, and the show was broadcast live on BBC radio.
Currently locked away in the studio, Anisa is about to treat us to her 2nd EP, for which she has collaborated with some of the UK’s hotly tipped producers.
Her first single “Who Am I”, is a declaration of her battle with identity crisis, in a world where over-confidence is so commonly celebrated. The track received first exclusive play on BBC’s Asian Network and is her first ever song to be released on digital platforms. When asked to describe her “sound”, Anisa smiles and replies confidently: “heart-felt but chilled new soul, with a touch of old school RnB”, a fusion that leaves our ears burning with anticipation.
