Formed in the fall of 2010, founding members Jeff Markham (Vocals & Guitar), Jon Darconte (Drums and Keys), and Johnathan Hamrick (Bass) filled a rehearsal space in the appalacian mountains with an array of musical instruments and began writing. With each musician having spent half their lives in different musical backgrounds, every instrument brings forth an alternative representation of rock and roll, psychedelic, punk, folk, and the blues.
The basis of Autowolfe began in 2005 when Darconte, Markham, and guitarist Matt Cavanaugh assembled an underground indie rock group called "Kerouac or the radio". "Kerouac" was well recieved by critics and achieved a notable amount of underground sucess performing at venues such as the late Vincents Ear in Asheville N.C. and CBGB's in N.Y.C.
In 2007 "Kerouac or the radio" split up after the home/practice space where Darconte lived tragically caught fire and burned almost completley to the ground. Darconte and Cavanaugh managed to save the music equipment and a few belongings, but not much else. Markham moved down south to his old home town and did not perform any shows for two years.
In 2009 Markham and Darconte reconnected to begin working on an alt-country project intitled "The Last Call" with the addition of guitarist Justin Lee and bassist Johnathan Hamrick. Through constant touring and solid radio play "The Last Call" gained regional success releasing two EP's, a full legnth album, and a hand full of music videos and live performances.
While on hiatus in the summer of 2010, Darconte and Markham began recording a collection of songs much different from any of their other projects. Feeling slightly disenchanted with the alt-country sound, it was decided that this would be the new direction for their music and would deserve a fitting title.
Justin Lee left the project to pursue his solo career with Valerie Phillips in "Sunshine and the bad things" while Darconte, Markham, and Hamrick focused on Autowolfe releasing the single "Terrible Distraction" featuring Cavanaugh on guitars, followed by a four song EP and the basement sessions which are home studio recordings of new material that Autowolfe posts quite frequently.

This is Autowolfe: Jeff Markham/Jon Darconte/Johnathan Hamrick
"Each note seems carefully placed, the chime of the guitar, the sparkle and glint of cymbals. Markham’s sable vocal delivers the right mix of anguish and suggestion, songs are imbued with comfortable familiarity tinged with a hint of danger."
