Blue Wave Theory is an American instrumental rock band formed in 2007 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The group's sound is rooted in surf music of the 1960s, but often incorporates elements of other genres including reggae, punk rock, jazz, and progressive rock. The band's music is entirely instrumental and features the current lineup of Steve Rabeler (guitar), Bob Trimble (guitar), Kevin Stamper (bass), and Rob Wolleben (drums). The insistence for each musician in Blue Wave Theory to keep true to their personal styling and inspiration gives the band a distinctive stamp of uniqueness and creativity.
Blue Wave Theory (also known as BWT) and their hectic eclectic brand of music has shared the stage with some of of the world's finest surf and instrumental rock artists including Dick Dale, Messer Chups, Gary Hoey, and The Blair-Pongracic Band. BWT has also performed with many of the coolest east coast surf and retro rock bands including Mister Neutron, The Coffin Daggers, The Supertones, The Octomen, and Creem Circus. The group can seen performing at music venues throughout New Jersey, Philadelphia, and New York City, including the Sellersville Theater, World Cafe Live, MilkBoy, The Brighton Bar, The Anchor's Bend, Otto’s Shrunken Head, and the Coney Island Boardwalk. In addition, Blue Wave Theory has played in several east coast summer festivals including the Make Music New York Festival, Asbury Park Surf Music Festival, Bethlehem Musikfest, the Art of Surfing Festival, Twangstock, and Surfapalooza. Blue Wave Theory also performs for private events and parties including fundraisers like the Epicurean Palette at Grounds For Sculpture.
Blue Wave Theory has released 4 full-length albums of studio and live recordings: "Sing Along With Blue Wave Theory" (2018), "Beachcombing" (2017), "Superstorm" (2013), and the eponymous "Blue Wave Theory" (2009). Individual Blue Wave Theory songs have appeared on numerous instrumental surf compilation albums including "Gnarly Wave Volume One" (2016), "The Continental Magazine #23" (2015), "Surfin' Jack Flash" (2014), “Radical Waves” (2012), and “Off the Deep End” (2011). Blue Wave Theory's music has also been licensed for a wide variety of purposes including Rolling Stone marketing videos, Samsung product advertisements, DIY Network television broadcasts, Outside TV snowboarding videos, Carlsberg Beer commercials, Red Bull Media House productions, and hot rod DVD's.

The new Blue Wave Theory album "Beachcombing" has shipped and is now available for purchase or download from our Bandcamp page. “Beachcombing” is a 15-song collection of live performances and previously unreleased studio recordings. Included in this release are unique Blue Wave Theory instrumental interpretations of classic hits including “Time is on My Side”, “What a Wonderful World”, and the seasonal favorite "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)". In addition this compilation contains Blue Wave Theory versions of two vintage instrumental rock classics: Neal Hefti’s “Batman Theme”, and Link Wray’s “Rumble". Rounding out the album are some new Blue Wave Theory originals including "Listening To Shells", "Haile Selassie Hits The Beach", and "Moonburn".
