Classic, born in Muskegon MI. Grew up in a military family spending his childhood numerous states in the United States while also growing up in Berlin Germany. Classic got his name from his love of classical music from the renaissance period, he has a oldschool style flow with the ability to switch up his style while still maintaining the substance that more traditional hip-hop listeners enjoy. He first wanted to rap after his mother got him into LL Cool J in the 80's, later Tribe Called Quest, Dela Soul, Tupac, Notorious BIG, Snoop, Ice Cube, and Jay-z. Aside from his rhyming skills and undeniable talent, Classic has gone under the radar when it comes to notoriety but not work ethic nor consistency. His catalog is extensive and refreshing.
However his career in music would get a later start being that he was a pretty decent high school basketball player and would focus a lot of his time on sports. Attending Kansas Weslyan University by the end of 2004 he wanted to focus on music full time.
He relocated to Phoenix AZ in 2007 where he pushed mixtapes out of his car and ran the local scene doing shows. He ran into Juice a "Black Wall Street." Artist for The Game's group. Who enjoyed one of his mixtapes and started to do music with him. After taking on music full time it didn't take long before he was opening up for names such as DJ Quik and Kurrupt out in Scottsdale AZ at a Sean Healy event.
During this time he had just got out of a bad independent label deal with a local label which caused him to scratch two music projects, shortly after completing his newest he would record an entirely different mixtape to release that had no ties with that label titled, "Phoenix New Sun 3." In Febuary 2008. In 2009 he released Phoenix New Sun 4 hosted by Juice of Black Wall Street. In 2010 he would team up with a in house producers made up of friends and family, Teflon Da Don and Murakulous to release his first street album, "Damaged Goodz." In 2011 he would release, "The Michigan Wolverine."
Which highlighted in house producers Teflon Da Don and Murakulous. Artist features with Willie The Kid on the track, "Spartans & Wolverines." The two West Michigan born artist teamed up for it. In 2012 "No Cover." was released on otha.bandcamp.com one of his best projects arguably. In 2013 he got married near Washington D.C. where he and his wife lived at the time. He would release, "Back To The Past." with features from G-13 who featured on the track "Nas is Coming." off the It Was Written album.
Not until 2016 would Classic release another project which was Back To The Past 2 while going on the 8th Annual Get Money Stop Hating Tour in cities such as Louisville KY, Indianapolis IN, Detroit MI, Dayton OH, and Austin TX SXSW to name a few. In 2017 he won an event with Coast 2 Coast Live and attended their annual convention in Miami Florida Sept. 17 2017, where he released, "The Chillzone." while also recording two projects for 2018; "The Black Side and " Lake Michigan."
The Black Side touches the police brutality and puts more of a spot light on the political side of the U.S. while Lake Michigan is a album that will be on all major streaming networks thats an introduction to his hometown with features and production from Murakulous, production from Standout Musik, and Synesthetic and features from Skyzoo out of Brooklyn.
Classic has just recently gotten off the "Well Worded Tour." with Landon Wordswell & Gray Jackson. Knoxville Tenneessee, Charleston South Carolina, Columbia South Carolina, Bloomington Illinois, & Urbana Champagne. Oct. 3rd to 7th 2018, with more tours & shows to come.
Will be touring with artist Landon Wordswell to be apart of the "Well Worded Tour." Landon has toured with artist like Mos Def overseas, and Skyzoo states side. We're excited to start this new chapt and look forward to doing more tours and shows.
