Danii Roundtree is a retro goddess whose life revolves around her craft. As she showcases her vast range of talents, we enter her world through her rose-tinted glasses. This vibrant Soul/ Pop, R&B, Jazz artist has a sound that is reminiscent of the classic, timeless tunes from yesterday, fused with the freshness of current trends. Danii discovered her love for music at age 11 when she began taking up singing and performing live on stage. After graduating from high school at Dillard Center for the Performing Arts, Danii attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts majoring in Vocal Performance with a concentration on Jazz Vocals. Danii went on to study musical theater at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in conjunction with The New School in New York City. While still in school, Danii earned the title of "Miss New York USA" in 2008, beating out over 300 contestants. She was the first black woman to win the title in over 10 years, and later went on to represent New York in the nationally televised Miss USA pageant. Danii was then chosen as 1 of 20 in the United States to have her talents showcased in the Broadway’s summer concert series, “Broadway’s Rising Stars.” Her career shifted in 2009 when she competed on the hit television show American Idol. Danii made it to the top 100, but had to leave the show due to illness. Although she did not win, Danii was hooked and ready for a life of recording and performing professionally, on an even larger platform. She then decided to dedicate her efforts to creating her own original music. Known for her charisma, powerful vocal range, and dynamic retro signature sound, Danii incorporates these elements to her electrifying live stage show. As life imitates art, her debut album Memoirs is a collection of tales based on a storybook romance that ends before it even begins. In Roundtree's words, "Memoirs is an album written from true life events. We all have that one love story that ends before it starts, and I just so happen to be a singer-songwriter who documents through song. This album is literally a collection of my memoirs. All the records are personal. The sound has a throwback feel that is jazz-oriented with funk and soul elements, cleverly coined as 'retro'. Her single "Crave" received critical acclaim by several popular trade publications, which has helped her garner an incredible street buzz. This has led to her securing major press exposure, and landed her the opportunity to perform at many notable Festivals including The 40th Annual 2017 Atlanta Jazz Festival, the 2018 Atlanta Pride Festival, and the 2019 Suwannee Jazz Festival. Danii’s song “Come Home for Christmas” was chosen for Wayfair’s “You've Got Wayfair” Holiday commercial airing nationally on television throughout 2018, and renewed for the 2019 holiday seasons. She also received a placement with Facebook for her song “Jukebox Boogie.” Danii’s music also plays all around the country to fans visiting Delta, Macy’s, Footlocker and several other large retailers. Her goal is to continue to reach the masses by having her music set the mood as the backdrop to your favorite Films, TV shows, and commercials. Because of demand, Danii released her first Christmas project “Retro Christmas” that met rave reviews, her first European radio run, and over 25k streams.
