Born in California in 1990, Eric and his family moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2001. In 2004 he purchased his first bass at he age of 14. He spent the next 5 years studying bass and also picked up and studied guitar during that time. 3 months after buying his first bass he began playing regularly for his church youth group. During his junior year of high school he began studying music theory and ear training at Clark College.
Over time Eric found himself having more oppurntunities to play, both at his home church and other local churches. Soon he made the leap into the secular world playing bass and guitar with both local and national artists for weddings and in clubs, bars and casinos, as well recording sessions for both secular and non.
Now Eric continues to make a name for himself in the Portland/Vancouver music scene with churches, solo artists and bands. Fly dates and filling in on tours as a bass/guitar player have taken Eric across the country. He recently traveled to Haiti as a part of the Palau band for an evangelism festival which was attended by upwards of 35,000 people. Eric is also the bass player for a new band, Westward, scheduled to record their first EP in May 2012. In between gigs Eric works as an intern worship leader at Vancouver's Crossroads Community Church.
What people are saying about Eric:
"Eric Macias is a pleasure to work with. He is always prepared, bringing a professional musician's attitude and skill set, mixed with a humble servants heart. I loved having Eric play in my band and would recommend him to anyone. I can't wait till we hang together again." Michael Bahn - singer/songwriter/worship leader
"Eric is a man of style and has awesome hair." Nathan Arnold- singer/songwriter/worship leader
Eric has been the most reliable bass player I have ever worked with in my 20 years as a professional musician. He comes with a variety of basses and pedals and an even greater variety of ideas to add to a session or live performance. He takes instruction very well and can adapt to any kind of social environment. He really is an artists and producers dream. I consider it a privilege to work with him every week. He is my personal favorite and growing every day. Jeramy Burchett -drummer/producer
"Eric Macias is a great bass player, great all around musician, and a
real pro. His tone is always killer and appropriate for the gig. He
always knows his parts (and everyone else's for that matter) and
executes them very well. His feel and ear are great and so is his
attitude. He's a low maintenance and reliable guy with great musical
taste and ability! What more could you want?" Tim Downing -Berklee graduate, worship leader
