Amsterdam, November 2006, Ilene and Bas met in the Bourbon Street bar, fell in love, and started talking about combining a rocking bass with a bluesy cello. They both like freedom and wheels, and Dylan's album 'the Freewheeling', which gave them their name. A bunch of gigs were the result, and as the duo travelled to other countries, they had to pick musicians to work with. Therefor, they now have a head start in Northern Europe, Southern Europe and the US, with complete bands and backlines, ready to go.
Their love for a wide range of music has brought them into many different scenes and they are lucky to call so many nice people good friends. Ilene keeps pioneering new sounds with her electric cello, something that brought her to NAMM where she heard mr. Steinberg -builder of her 6-string electric- wants to endorse her. Bas still is building instruments, amps and effects, and has a online music shop at Reverb. The constant travelling and gigging kept the band for a very long time from recording their original songs. However, studio visits led to some nice gems, that will be handed out to fans and concert visitors throughout the years.
Ilene has recorded a beautiful song at Raoulmusic studio in the Netherlands. This is the cherry on the pie of our little Dutch tour in which we've performed in Amsterdam and Nijmegen. She also has recorded a wonderful acoustic cello -thanks Marcel Augusteijn!- in Rotterdam, together with percussion of Martijn Pronk.
We thank our friends for their warm welcome in the cold country of Holland, where we hardly saw any sun in December and early January. We hope to give some positive vibrations to al of you sun-deprived music lovers. And if you want us back in Europe: book a tour!
