Born in the little Southern town of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, Hunter Morse inherited an early interest in music and singing from his PawPaw, Dennis Wayne Morse, who once shared the stage with the likes of Conway Twitty, Jerry Lee Lewis and Mickey Gilley and was recording in the sound booth next to Waylon Jennings when he recorded Good Hearted Woman. His PawPaw and the great Merle Haggard have had a big influence in the sound and style of music he performs and he dreams one day to sing on the stage where all the great country legends have performed; The Grand Ole Opry.
A shy, quiet little boy, at the age of 3, Hunter was singing “Amazing Grace” to anyone who would listen. With a distinct country twang in his voice, he was picking his guitar at 7 years old and appeared on stage for the very first time where he was anything but shy and quiet, finding passion and confidence in doing what he loved most; entertaining.
Now 17 years old, Hunter attends Ponchatoula High School where he is in his third year of the gifted music program. He has become a local favorite and shares his musical talents at fairs, parties, benefits, and festivals and every Wednesday night the house is packed at MiPatio, a local hangout, where he sings "old-time" country favorites and some of the many songs he has written himself! He’s also performed at the Louisiana Jubilee, Home of the Old South Hayride and in March of this year, he appeared at John A's in Nashville, Tennessee. For someone so young, Hunter honors our military vets every time he gets the chance and is very supportive of small businesses.
In 2017 Hunter won the North American Country Music Association International Awards held at the Country Tonite Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. He won Vocalist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Album of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year in the 13-16 year old category and he returned in 2018 and won Most Promising Male Vocalist, and his second Songwriter of the Year and Entertainer of the Year awards in the 17 - 20 year category. While at his aunt’s house for a ‘crawfish boil’ he sang his original song “Outlaw Music Man” which one of his friends recorded and posted on Facebook. In less than 3 months it had been viewed over 1,500,000 times!
Hunter recently signed with newly formed label, Vest Music Group and is produced by Steel Guitar Legend, Jim Vest (label owner) and music business veteran and former Toto alumni, Buddy Hyatt. Having written or co-written 7 of the 10 songs, his first CD for the label will be released early summer.
Hunter appeared at the World Famous Tootsie's on Broadway in Nashville, TN for 2 days and was a huge hit with the 'country crowd' and was assured he would be back soon!
Young Hunter Morse has a long and exciting future ahead. Take the musical journey with him to the Opry Stage and beyond.
