"Spoken word and art have been my ways of communicating to the world- I never thought of myself as a music producer or really took singing as an option other than for entertaining myself while cleaning or in the shower with beat boxing and singing a tune. I have been a lover of music since I was in my Mother's womb. Music lives in me- I've made millions of melodies in my head- now it's time to share what I hear with those who want to listen. I'm not the last of a dying breed-- I'm truly one-of-a-kind; after me- there won't be another, so I'm gonna give the world all I've got!" -Kandayia 'JagudEye' Ali
Kandayia Ali (Kanday) aka JagudEye has produced more than 100 songs and has celebrated her 5th album release- all between the time spanning from February 15th through May 13th 2013. She is the only Southern female producer to establish such a dynamic feat in representation of the South. Her job is nowhere near done- as she will be releasing two more albums, as well as a single in July 2013. Her music is definitely an 'acquired taste' for 'the different kind of listener'. The creator of a new music genre- Cosmic Fusion- which mixes several genres together in a 'futuristic' way; this one-of-a-kind individual has went above and beyond to make her music known to the world.
One thing is for certain... Kandayia Ali and her music can be coined as music which can reach every age range and lifestyle. Despite the sudden popularity and rise to the top of the list underground, independent artists- you would think that she would call her craft something Supernatural- Instead... What does she call it? Very modestly, she says: 'Just GOOD Music'! Listen to over 100 of her productions via soundcloud: @JagudEye and take a look inside the heart and mind of a true visionary. -KobieMark Ent.
HER STORY:
Self-Published Author, Music Producer/ Singer/ Song Writer, Public Relations Specialist, Project/ Personal Management, Entertainment Marketing/ Management, Event Planner- Coordinator- Promoter, Poet, Abstract/ Surreal Artist, Photographer, Volunteer, Mom, Community Activist & Life Coach are just some of the titles she's recognized for holding. There will be many more to follow... Her mission is clear- she's making HIStory- HERstory...
Born August 13th 1976 to her Mother ( of Caribbean Descent) and Father (of Native American Descent) in Orlando Florida, Kandayia Ali is youngest of 17 siblings- (9 female & 8 male). Mother of 5 children (4 male, 1 female)-- Divorced domestic violence and heart disease survivor- turned naturalist Kandayia has assisted as a 'behind the scenes guy' working alongside many organizations, artists, companies and more. Throughout her life, she has been recognized as a consistent contributor to the fields of public speaking, art, music, literature, community and culture-based movements.
In Feb. 2010, for her efforts and support to various communities country-wide, Kandayia was chosen to be recognized for and wear the title as one of the many Black Women Making History. "This is truly an honor and it gives me more inspiration and energy to push forward to continue to make a difference in the world around me."
December of 2010, Kandayia transitioned from Atlanta, GA back to her home state of Florida to currently be located in the Miami, FL area- where she is currently setting up a foundation for community-based success. She is the founder and full time teacher for her private home school, TPOK (The Power Of Knowledge) Learning Academy, where she teaches grades Pre-K thru 12th and GED Prep Courses for adults. She is also in the process of using the new Miami, FL division of her record label/ arts gallery and studio as a means of incorporating work and business ethics training courses for locals who are interested in becoming more effective in any given area of professionalism.
In May of 2011, Kanday was coined the name "DigitalBeast" which is a named used to describe her ability to learn things in the digital world almost immediately- and create whatever she 'SEES' with just about anything. "I have been designing digital art and graphics since 2005 and I never really thought about putting any out- only keeping it to myself- sorta protecting it. Now, I feel compelled to share; allow the world to see the beauty that I see in my head." She now has a gallery online where most of her coveted digital art is available on Fine Art America or via her website and Facebook fan LIKE page.
In November of 2012, Kanday published her first book entitled "Pillow Soft Secrets"- a book of her most cherished and original life quotes, short stories and poetry. Soon to follow on January 1st 2013 was her second book "The Machine Inside The Woman- Reflection, Recovery, Release" These books are available on major outlets such as Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Smash Words, Lulu and more worldwide.
Kanday has been working heavily in the 'lab' creating new and innovative contributions to the world- in the genre she calls 'Cosmic Fusion Music'. She has decided to tap into this type of 'MUSIC' by compiling all of her favorite genres of music together on one album. How eclectic is that? "I had an idea and I ran with it! I sat down in front of the computer and said to myself- 'self- you can make your own music ya' know.' I pulled up the production program and did just that! My music is LOUD- edgy, hard hitting, gritty, animated, intense and highly entertaining! I'm known for going from Jazz to Dirty South- from Dubstep to Spoken Word all on ONE album. There is definitely something for everyone and anyone who loves eclectic, ambient sounds- you have 100's to choose from!!!" "I've tried to pick a genre for my music and poetry productions- and the only categories I would use from now on are 'Cosmic Fusion' and just plain ole' 'Good Music' PERIOD...
Kanday is a well-rounded and people oriented person, who doesn't mind putting in the extra time and effort to assist in the manifestation resulting in a positive outcome. Her goals and dreams as a community voice are coming to a demonstrative success. With her new record label in tact- her final adumbration is to develop a course which teaches those who are interested in learning about alternative medicine, essential oils, Ayurveda medicine, exercise, diet and other naturally healthier ways of living. This is only the beginning- Kanday is in this for the long-run and she plans on being there to stand tall till the end...
Kandayia 'JagudEye' Ali is destined to prove her coined description of being a ‘creative force to reckoned with’ as she is celebrating the ending of her "10 For The Record Project". Her final album of the year- “Celebrate LIFE”- was released August 12th 2013. This project includes over 175 productions, most of them split amongst 7 album releases and 3 Mixtapes- all unique and original music tracks produced by Kandayia herself! History has been made by this 37 year old, single Mother of 5. She is the only African American Southern Female Producer to rise to and exceed her very own challenges in the music industry. Her first challenge was the “100 Song Production Saga” which she completed between February 15th through May 13t 2013. A lot more has come to her loyal listeners since then. All music produced by Kandayia Ali were created between the months of February and August of 2013- showing her dedication, drive and focus. With the upcoming launch of her record label/ arts and entertainment consulting firm in January 2014- this “Wonder Woman” from the underground- looks to bring to the surface the faces of other talented- risk takers and aspiring record breakers. “I look to remain independent- I don’t care to be signed- I just want to recognized for what I’ve accomplished. There will always be more records to break. I’m sure of it!”
“I have produced music for almost every genre, every kind of listener and every kind of mood. I have even created my own little genre called “Cosmic Fusion & Sound”- used to describe my own eclectic style of music production. I had something to prove to myself- and I did just that. It isn’t an easy road- but I still chose this route for me. I could have chosen to just become another poet, singer, model, author or business owner’ BUT those are easy for me to become. I chose music production because it’s the foundation of all music- it can have vocals or stand alone and still be considered the fundamentals to the art of sound and expressionism. What I have done and am doing is rare- there aren’t many who are willing to step outside of their normal selves to go against the stereotypical grain to be seen, recognized and respected for being a contributor to the categories of music I have chosen. I found new ways of speaking through sound which I never thought would be possible coming from someone like me--- it’s too nutty because the moment I thought contrary to that last statement- things changed in my life rapidly. I became much more worthy of my place on this planet in the past year- than I have in my whole entire life and I choose to only continue to move forward, do much more and share it with the world.”
“I have had to practice certain disciplinary actions that would drive others insane in order to stay focussed and not be distracted by others- or caught up in the hype. I quit every other project and stopped working for other companies and on other projects altogether, so that I could do what I needed to do. I wasn’t being selfish, no, not at all. I was just tired of completing projects and goals for others- and always looking at myself as an incomplete project. That poisoned my spirit for while- but then again- I look back and see that it was all meant to go EXACTLY as things and circumstances went in my life. I was NOT going to ‘try’ to bring success to others until I worked hard to make myself a success story. None of this is in vain- there is always a bigger picture- this is just a small piece of it- which will soon reveal my reason for doing what I have done and to finish what I’m currently doing. I don’t have the biggest and best of everything yet- I’m working on that- but I have learned to appreciate what I have and to make the best of any and every moment in my life. I encourage others to try something new and different- explore yourself and find out what you’re capable of- you’ll never know what may happen- I sure didn’t!”
Q: Who is/are your musical idol(s)?
A: OMG- Michael Jackson, Tears For Fears, Herbie Hancock, The Art Of Noise, Andre 3000, Goodie Mob, Erykah Badu, James Brown, Prince, Cab Calloway, George Michael, Stevie Wonder, En Vogue, Whitney Houston, New Edition, U2, Culture Club, Linkin Park, Bob Marley, Half Pint, Buju Banton, Wutang, Run DMC, Rob Bass, DJ Magic Mike, Jon B, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Gladys Knight, - the list goes on and on!
Q: Who do you look up to in the industry?
A: Currently- it’s a loooong list but at the top 20 on my list are David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Lauryn Hill, Yanni, Imagine Dragons, Daft Punk, Jay-Z, Wale, Kendrick Lamar, Dwele, Eric Bellinger, Sleepy Brown, Sublime, Figure, Gorillaz, Black Eyes Peas, Deadmau5 and Busta Rhymes.
Q:What influences your music?
A: I don’t know- life I guess. I produce based on what or how I’m feeling at the time. All of my songs are a direct expression of what I was going through my mind at the time I created them. Thats why I can listen to a song I made- and be about to cry- and no one else understands why I feel so deeply.
Q: Who do you sound like?
A: It depends on the song you’re listening to. lol. I can create every genre of music- so my sound is versatile and unique. It can be compared to songs made by Junkie XL, Avicii, Cascade, Skrillex, Felix The Housecat, Kraftwerk, Underworld, Aphex Twin, LCD Soundsystem, Basement Jaxx, David Guetta, Chromeo, The Prodigy, Ellie Goulding, Calvin Harris, Fonce, Capital Cities, Four Tet, Theo Parrish, The Orb, Paul Oakenfold, The Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, Crystal Method, Roni Size, Flying Lotus, Peaches, Fatboy Slim, Bjork, Tiesto, Nadia Ali, Deadmau5, Tai, Figure, LaRoux, AWOLNATION, The xx, Owl City, Bare Noize, Bassnectar, Gorillaz, Daft Punk, Depeche Mode, M83, Foster The People, Moby, Empire of the Sun, Passion Pit, Thievery Corporation, MGMT, George Winston, Enigma, Rain Sounds, Vitamin String Quartet, Yanni, Richard Clayderman, Celtic Woman, Acoustic Alchemy, David Lanz, Two Steps From Hell, Dean Evenson, Danny Elfman, Henry Mancini, John Williams, Boa, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Hans Zimmer, David Arkenstone, George Winston, Jean-Michel Jarre, Deep Forest, Shadowfax, Philip Glass, Kitaro, Tangerine Dream, Chris Spheeris, Ennio Morricone, Constance Demby, Delirium, Deuter, Ray Lynch, Jim Brickman, Enya, Suzanne Doucet, Ottmar Liebert, Mike Oldfield, Vangelis, Mannheim Steamroller, Lana Del Rey, Linkin Park, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay, Five Finger Death Punch, Fall Out Boy, Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kings of Leon, Washed Out, fun, Sublime, Pearl Jam, U2, The Black Keys, Three Days Grace, Green Day, The Killers, Shinedown, Muse, Cat Power, Pearl Jam, Nickelback, The Byrds, Zac Brown Band, Feist, Panic! at the Disco, The Flaming Lips, P.J. Harvey, Radiohead, Madonna, Tears For Fears, Franz Ferdinand, Gnarls Barkley, Interpol, Nirvana, Oasis, Nine Inch Nails, R.E.M., White Stripes, The Cure, Beck, The Clash, Death Cab For Cutie, Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth and thousands more!
Q: What is your reputation in the industry?
A: As a producer- a newcomer to the underground circuit. I don’t really have a reputation- but I do try to keep my music clean and able to listened to by everyone who takes the time to listen. As a person who has worked for various companies and entertainers for years: a BEAST- a legendary myth. People know I exist- but they just don’t know how to get close enough to be on my ‘to do’ list. I’m the guy who you come to when you have questions- and if I don’t know the answer right then- give me a minute and I can give you the answer and then some!
Q: What other roles do you play in the industry?
A: Well, I USED to deal with public relations, project and personal management, event planning/ promotions, booking, marketing research, career consulting, artist enhancement, image branding and stuff like that. I’m currently just doing me- working on my label- getting it ready to be launched officially in January 2014.
Q: What do you do with your free time?
A: I don’t think I have any. I do everything full time- so I’m always working on my goals, homeschooling my children, helping them with their goals, working and repairing on the house or assisting in positive community efforts whenever I have a chance to. I know what ‘I’d like’ to be doing- but for right now- its not an option.
Q: What other activities/ hobbies are you involved in besides music?
A: I love painting and designing digital art; I write poetry and short stories; photo-journalism is more so a hobby and photography. I want to get into nature more- that’s what I’m working on now. That- and a ‘personal’ life- lol.
Q: What do you want to be known for/known as?
A: A chic who came- saw- kicked ass and kept it moving on the next challenge. I want to be known for taking risks and accomplishing major feats- all just because I decided to ‘try’- and wasn’t afraid to fail- but to learn from past experiences in order build an empire that cannot be moved. Making history is important to me.
Q: What quote/sentence/ word would you say best describes you and your music?
A: “Know WHO you are... Choose WHAT you CAN BECOME- and BE THAT... I don’t know about you- BUT I am ART!!!” - Kandayia Ali
Q: What kind of music do you listen to?
A: All kinds- based on how I’m feeling. I do a lot in my life based on mood. I mean, if I’m in love- I wouldn’t listen to N.W.A.. I love all genres of music- so I’m constantly searching for new favorites- even if some of them are from decades ago.
Q: What are your top 6 favorite songs (6 of yours and 6 others)?
A: Of mine- “Alright”, “Color Shifters”, “Remember Me”, “His Journey To A Place Unknown”, “You’ll Never Know” and “Breathe”. By others- “Titanium” by David Guetta, “Adorn” by Miguel, “Invisible” by Kameron Corvet, “Human Nature” by Michael Jackson, “Elemental” by Tears For Fears and “If It Isn’t Love” by New Edition.
Q: What is your perspective on the current state of the industry?
A: It’s just ‘lacking’. You choose what word or phrase- and the industry is in dire need of it. Originality, skill, rawness- I can go on- but you get the picture. To me- everything has resorted to a fake-ass reality show. Our DJ’s aren’t respected or held in high regards anymore- and they are the ones spinning our music and busting their asses to represent us as one of their favorites. In order to be ‘seen’ in this industry- there has to be drama and dirt constantly surrounding you. The media has dissected the industry, taken out the good stuff, added their own ‘spice’- mutated it. It’s a monster that we don’t wanna face- but a lot of us have to in order to try to right the wrongs in the industry and what it stands for. What it was truly made for.
Q: What do you think will help the industry survive/what do you think the industry needs in order to stop its decline?
A: For once- to stop using money and material gains to stay at the top- use pure skill and talent- not what you’ve purchased in the last 48 hours or who you’re sleeping with. Some people just want a chance to show their talents. Allow indie artists to hold the torch and pave the way for others who feel that they can’t make it because of what they don’t ‘have’. To me- talent should prevail over all else. I want to see a day when the little rapper dude from around my way takes the stage and rocks with the Jay-Z’s and Kanye’s of the industry with no worries of what either of the two have- just taking the show to the next level. I’m not Martin Luther King- but I’m just sayin’! lol.

Expressing her theme- "the desert lands of Hiphop" the 8th album (9th release)- BONAFIDE by JagudEye is just that-- a deliverance of her love for music and sound- presented in good faith. "I reached deep inside and pulled out the greater parts of me as a producer on this album. It has this whole- Fallen Soldier/ Desert Storm feel to it. I felt like a soldier putting the tracks in perspective- so of course my thoughts are to dedicate this entire album to our soldiers who are away from their families- to those who are home and can no longer serve- as well as those whom we won't being seeing anymore; not to mention, those individuals who are forced to become soldiers just to survive in the world today. This is my tribute to those in battle- whether by choice of by force. As always- I give the raw, real, profound parts of me- no cutting corners or playing with it- just giving me on every production." -Kandayia 'JagudEye' Ali

"I have no fear when goin' in after what it is I'm inspired to do. It's clear that there is a point to prove- not to others- TO MYSELF. Cosmic Fusion is more than just a description- I use this description to emphasize my true and unconditional love FOR ALL GENRES of music. Music is more than universal; music is a barrier breaker and can be felt on a level reaching further than the soul. I'm doing what most women from the South are told NOT to try-- MAKING HISTORY!
