J. CATALYST

In the world of a new label addendum, the voice of Independent artist is growing more powerful by the day. New up and coming artist J. Catalyst is in the forefront of this new age music industry. A true southern native born and raised in the hometown of UGK, Port Arthur, Texas until the age of thirteen. From that point on, he then began to develop his roots in Dallas, Texas. 

J.Catalyst officially began pursuing a music career right after high school in 2003. He had a vision of bringing universalism to hip-hop; the belief was fusing different genres of art together to bring about a bigger picture. Hence the definition of the word:

Catalyst: -noun: Something or someone that causes activity between two or more persons or forces without itself being affected.

A true lyricist at heart, he has broken ground with genres ranging from Hip-hop, Pop, Alternative Rock, Spoken word, Raggaetone, R&B and is a ghost writer for some up-and coming local artist. He first started out going to open mic’s in the Dallas- Fort Worth Metroplex, gaining respect in both Hip-hop and spoken word worlds. He went on to doing various shows in the metroplex, including performing at the Dallas House of Blues, Modeling for the 97.9 The Beat car show and performing in Austin’s Famous South by Southwest “SXSW”. He landed his single “DUMB” on DJ Drama & that’s hip-hop: Third infantry division, and also became Coast-to-Coast mix tape showcase champion twice, in Dallas and New York. When apart of band Broken Hourglass a local Hip-hop/ Alternative rock band. He led the band to being the # three band in the online Ernie’s ball “BATTLE OF THE BANDS” in 2010. In summer 2013, J.Catalyst took the stage opening up at the 97.9 Hip Hop for HIV summer jam concert opening up for the likes of Bun B., Scarface, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, K.Michelle and many more.

J. Catalyst is officially announcing his first official E.P. to be release early Summer, Self Titled “J.Catalyst.”

J. Catalyst prides himself on being an artist that is not afraid to step out of the traditional realm of hip-hop. He believes that Hip-hop is evolving, and with that in mind he has every intention to living up to the name Catalyst!
