Naturally gifted and blessed with the ability to rhyme and tell compelling stories in his music, KountyBoy Solo is the definition of a complete artist. The only child of Military parents, Solo traveled not only the United States but the world throughout his childhood. This early travel exposed him to different genres and styles of music which he now realizes was vital in his devlopment in to the atrist he is today. Oddly enough, Solo never wrote a single verse until November 2011 after being inspired by Drake's "Take Care" LP. That is when he as well as the people around him realized the talent he had for expressing feelings and envoking emotion through his music.
KountyBoy Solo's unique ability to make thought provoking music, as well as comtemporary Top 40 hits allows people to see how well rounded of a person he is outside of music, as well as how eclectic he is with music:
"I want to be viewed as not only a complete artist but a complete person, and I think people will take notice of that by seeing how diverse my music is."
At 26 years old and only rapping for a little over a year and a half Solo's future is very bright in the music industry. Often compared to the like of J. Cole and Big Sean, Solo is determined to make his own lane in entertainment, becoming a trendsetter/pioneer in the world of music and fashion. With the impending release of his clothing line "Audacious Humanity" it is clear that he not only wants to eventually be mentioned as one the greats in music, but as one of the great businessmen and brands his generation has seen.
As I've stated in earlier reviews, the requests for me to review mixtapes of new/undiscovered artists, for this publication, have been both overwhelming and humbling. I take this responsibility very seriously; therefore I will always given honest, constructive reviews of any project placed in front of me. So, with that being said, let's look at the work of another yet-to-be-discovered artist. He goes by the pseudonym of Solo, and his mixtape is titled “No Excuses”.
Solo is another up-and-coming artist from Savannah, GA. And much like his peer from that city (Walt Chamberlain), dude has serious skills. It's good to see that lyricism isn't a lost art among today's new breed of MCs.
This mixtape is a pretty solid effort, covering various subject matter and styles of music (although it was mostly centered on east coast hip hop). “Celebrate You” is a brilliant song that Solo pulled off extraordinarily well. He also collaborated with the aforementioned Walt Chamberlain on “Heisman”...and they did not disappoint. They may need to consider joining forces, pooling resources and quite possibly becoming a new millennium OutKast (yeah I said it).
I'm looking forward to seeing what young Solo has in store with his future endeavors. A production upgrade is in order now, because a lot of people are gonna have their eyes on him. I expect that he'll continue his upward climb towards respect and international fame.
