Who Is KWild?
Born in London, England, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, the first things Keith Wilder Jr. knew was music and entertainment. Growing up seeing his father, Keith Wilder Sr., and uncle, Jonnie Wilder Jr., the two lead singers and founders of the 70’s Grammy nominated group, “Heatwave”, perform, he knew from the start that not only did he want to be a singer, but he wanted to be an entertainer! With his mother being a talented songwriter, who also wrote records for “Heatwave”, and sisters who are gifted singers and dancers, his pathway of being the artist he had dreamed of was clear. He took the initiative in his craft and ran with it, full throttle!
At the age of thirteen, Keith began learning how to produce music and recording his own songs. He gained the artist name ,“KWild”, from the first letter of his first name, and “wild” rooting from his last, also one of his characteristics once music is involved. His sophomore year of high school, he produced, wrote and recorded his first mixtape and senior year, wrote and partially produced his second.
KWild grew up dancing, but only Hip-Hop. However, throughout his sophomore to senior year of high school, he began taking dance in Jazz, Modern, Contemporary and Ballet. Straight after graduating, KWild began choreographing Hip-Hop at local high schools and dance studios. To strengthen in Hip-Hop, he began training with the Atlanta based crew, Collizion, that was seen on MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew” and studied under dancer, Byron Blakely, also known as CLZ Joker. With KWild’s name being known as not only an artist, but a choreographer, he got the chance to choreograph and dance in Arrested Development’s music video for their song, “Act A Fool”, as well as performing at the Infinity Energy Center with Southern Ballet Theatre in their dance productions, “The Polar Express” and “Frozen: The Tale of the Ice Queen”.
Singing and dancing go hand to hand with being the artist that shapes KWild. Growing up, he traveled the country, and even different locations in England, with “Heatwave” and was brought onstage to perform. Once he began shaping his own career, he opened up for “Heatwave” in California. Now, along side of a KWild performance, he choreographs his stage presence and movements for himself and background dancers.
During a dance video KWild was filming for his dance reel, his soon to be manager, Alton Sapp, was watching from a distance and sparked an interest for the artist he was witnessing. From then on, KWild began meeting and speaking with many people in the music industry, like MempHitz, and also working with producers like, Miykal Snoody, and many others. He then began expanding his talents even further and began writing pilots for dance reality TV shows.
So who is “KWild”, you ask? Some say a pop artist who gains influence from artists like Chris Brown, Craig David, Heatwave, and many more. Some may say a talented dancer who strives to help others and himself express their own lives within the art of dance for people to visualize. But if you put it all together, he is an entertainer who is ready to show the world what the new wave looks like!
