Lexi Jordan Atkins was born September 11, 2003, in Bremen, Georgia. Carrying on the ‘family tradition’ (her father Todd started out singing locally at the Franklin Music Park for five dollars a show when he was 14) she taught herself to play guitar when she was 12 and started writing songs when she was 13.
Even though Lexi was homeschooled 3rd through 8th grade (her mother Terri is a school teacher) she participated in four musicals at Bremen High School over the past few years; Grease, Oklahoma, Little Shop of Horrors and Addams Family. Now, she's a Sophomore at Bremen High full time! Lexi sings and plays guitar at church and festivals and fundraisers including Toys for Tots.
In February 2017 she appeared on the television show, Nashville Spotlight, and was a guest MC. In June she was invited to sing at a tribute to Rhubarb Jones, the longest running morning personality in the Atlanta radio market. But in March, Lexi participated in the singing competition, NACMAI, (North American Country Music Association International) in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee at the Country Tonite Theater where she won the Rising Star Award for ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ in the country music group ages 13 to 16. Even though Lexi’s time slot was at 8:00am in 16-degree weather her reception was anything but chilly! Because as Divine Intervention would have it she met Jim Vest, Legendary Steel Player and owner of Vest Music Group who signed her to her first Record Deal at age 14.
Produced by Vest and former Toto alumni, Buddy Hyatt, she’s recorded three songs and her sophomore single is “Hometown” a song she wrote about growing up in her hometown of Bremen; a song everyone can relate to.
Home is where the heart is
Home is where love is built
Surrounded by family and friends
Where you learn what faith is
The place where I feel safe and sound
When I’m lost I can always be found
In my hometown

Lexi’s debut offering “Shotgun” took us on a carefree ride to wherever the road may lead, but her follow up single brings us all back to the place we love and where we’re loved, our “Hometown”.

“Fun Facts” by Lexi
I have a twin brother, Logan. I am 47 minutes older than him. I have two other siblings besides my twin brother. I have a little sister, Ellie Grace, and a little brother, Tony. Ellie Grace is 8 and Tony is 6.
Most of my family calls me Lexi Lou or Lou Lou. Most of my friends call me Lex.
I have a dog (Black Lab) named Bocephus.
My favorite sport is basketball. I have played basketball for the past 5 years and was picked for the All-Star team for 3 of those years.
I enjoy riding my four wheeler. I live on over 11 acres of land and ride my four wheeler all through the woods where I live.
I love to go fishing. I have a small lake on my land where I catch bream, bass, and catfish. Yes, I have kissed a few of the fish that I have caught before releasing them. My dad tells me it’s good luck!
If I weren’t in the music business, I’d want to someday be a pediatrician. I think it would be very rewarding to get to help children medically. Also, I have struggled with the fear of going to the doctor all my life and I would like to help others, especially kids, overcome their fear of going to the doctor.
My favorite color is pink. I love this color so much and wanted to know the meaning of this color, so I googled it. This is what I found out about the color pink: “If pink is your favorite color, you are loving, kind, generous and sensitive to the needs of others. You are friendly and approachable with a warmth and softness others are drawn to.” This is definitely me!
My favorite subject in school is Language Arts because I love to read and write.
My favorite movie series is Harry Potter. My brother and I have watched the series at least 10 times. We even dressed as Harry Potter and Hermione Granger for Halloween one year.
My favorite foods are lobster tail with melted butter, and a baked potato topped with lots of butter, sour cream, chives, and 57 sauce. I put 57 sauce on almost everything!
I love to write songs. I started writing songs when I was 13. My favorite place to write music is when I’m sitting outside on my dock. It’s so peaceful there and I’m able to just let my mind drift to a creative place.
I love to read. I have been a bookworm since I was in first grade.
I live on a dirt road out in the country.
My dad owns a trucking company. My mom taught middle school for several years but quit teaching not long after my twin brother and I were born. She has been a stay-at-home mom since then.
I’m pretty good at hula hooping. I have won a couple of contests where I hula hooped.
I once saved a chipmunk from the jaws of my dog, Bocephus. It was slightly injured by my dog. I kept it for several weeks until I felt like it was healthy enough for me to let him/her go. I’m not sure if the chipmunk was a boy or girl, but I named it Theodore. I kept it in a cage. The chipmunk would let me hold him/her and would eat out of my hand.
I love catching frogs, lizards, and salamanders in my backyard. I save a lot of frogs and lizards that get in my swimming pool, but can’t get out.
I was homeschooled 3rd through 8th grade but I am now in my Freshman year at Bremen High School!
Both of my parents grew up singing. My dad sang in a band in the mid-1970s. He was around 13 years old at the time. He sang on the same stage as several country stars at that time. He sang right before Dave and Sugar came on stage once in Carrollton, Georgia. My mom mostly sang in church. She did enter several talent contests when she was younger. She once sang Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” in a talent show when she was 9 years old and won first place.
I love catching lightning bugs.
I love college football. My favorite team is the Georgia Bulldogs.
Even though I was homeschooled 3rd through 8th grade, I participated in four musicals at Bremen High School over the past several years. These include Grease, Oklahoma, Little Shop of Horror‘s, and the Addams family.
June 17, 2017, I was invited to sing at a Tribute to Rhubarb Jones. He was a DJ for the Atlanta country station from 1985 to 2008 and was the longest running morning personality in the Atlanta radio market. He grew up in Tallapoosa, Georgia which is in the same county (Haralson County) as I live. The “fun fact” about this is that there were three individuals and one group invited to perform at this special event. I sang first and Caleb Lee Hutchinson, one of the 2018 American Idol’s top 2 (runner-up), performed right after me. Me, Caleb, my parents, and his parents talked after the show for about 30 minutes. They were impressed with me and we were impressed with him. They couldn’t believe I was only 13.
I am a really good listener.
My favorite Bible verse is Luke 6:31 - And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
Release coming Friday, April 26!
Lexi is hard at work writing 3 new songs for her upcoming EP. Could there be a duet with labelmate Hunter Morse? Check back for more news!
