In the realms of the Hip Hop world, there are some collaborations you don’t expect to hear. For example, it wouldn’t be plausible to put Common and Three Six Mafia together on a track; the balance of the Earth would shift and total chaos would commence. Fortunately for us, international rapper S.K.Y has mastered the art of balance, and is able to provide us a project that not only gives thought-provoking material, but something that would sound good at a house party.
Hailing from the Lumberton and Fayetteville area of North Carolina, rapper S.K.Y found his passion for writing rhymes at the age of 14 while writing verses in middle school for local talent out of various high schools in the area. After graduating in 2009, S.K.Y joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed at different military bases throughout America.
Despite a promising career within the military, his passion for music never stopped. While stationed in Kentucky in 2012, his journey as a musical artist lead him to join the rap group B.A.D (Blessed and Determined), and shortly after released the musical compilation ‘B.A.D Vol. I’. S.K.Y left B.A.D and shortly after joined forces with music associate Randel “K. Dragon” Thompson to help found Black & Gold Entertainment, a collaboration of multi-talented performers within the hip hop genre February of 2013. S.K.Y released his first solo mixtape “Back to the Music: Return to the City” in January of 2013, and later that year, he was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany where he continued to pursue music, but as a solo act.
S.K.Y has since established himself not only as a talented performer, but a public figure as well. Before leaving for Germany in December 2013, S.K.Y was the opening act for Y.U.P Magazine’s Freestyle Battle Competition at Zero Degrees Night Club in Hope Mills, NC. In June of 2014, he has also opened for Famoe’s Mixtape release party in Sussen, Germany. That same month, S.K.Y released his second solo mixtape “Dark Thoughts of a Bright Soul” which featured YMCMB/FGM label artist Flow, and German rapper D.A. 44. In September of 2014, S.K.Y hosted and performed for an sold out event at Sudwerk Night Club in Germany, and continues to perform throughout Germany.
Tis the season of the Villain. After taking some time off to perfect the project S.K.Y starts 2016 off with a bang releasing the official video for the fan favorite track "The Vent".
Just an update on the album. At the moment I am currently putting the finishing touches on the project. I feel good. The whole recording process and journey that I will take you through with this project will give you more insight on allot of things. Thank everyone for being patient and for the support. With much love S.K.Y
