New Orleans schooled, gypsy spirited, endlessly curious, Myshkin Warbler is a rare bird among songwriters. Darkly joyous, compellingly complex songs, a soaring voice and pulsing guitar. Work that slips under the skin and stays there: literate, political, heartbreaking, gorgeous, eclectic as hell. Truly independent, Myshkin has built a far-flung dedicated following, and shaped an enigmatic sound——with accents of raw-folk, gypsy-swing, torch-jazz, soul-pop, punk-poetry, and desert-blues.
After two and a half decades of award-winning writing, recording, performance, production and collaboration, relentless touring, eight solo records and several beloved home towns, Myshkin’s migrations finally brought her to the desert, to the artists’ hideout of Joshua Tree, California. In the past year she created two new performance projects——the Royal Rabble Circus and the film/music performance series Po^tion——and completed her ninth record, Trust and the High Wire, due out in June.
