Every social movement begins with one person fired by a vision to bring something new into the world, or in the case of Nacho Bizznez, to revive something from the past. For him it is vintage cocktail lounge music, which he defines as "music from the '50s and '60s that was being played live in lounges from Oahu to Las Vegas to New York." "Its background wallpaper, its music to have cocktails over and you can dance to it."
His musical stylings has been broadcast on the airwaves of KMUN in the form of "Cocktail Nation", and you'd be surprised to know that the show was popular with teenss as well as those who heard the music when it was new... "It transcends generations, it bridges the generation gap." "It’s mood music with style, fun and flair! Think "Mad Men Soundtrack" with way more flavor."
Growing up on Long Island, N.Y., and introduced to the Rat Pack and Italian music as a child, he got his start in the music business in San Diego at the age of 20, when he began doing marketing and promotion for nightclubs, later became a manager and became familiar with every aspect of the business, from parking cars to tending bar, he also learned from some of the best DJs in the area at the time and learning ever since.
The vintage cocktail lounge music he loves has several commingled sources, from Swingin' Vegas Lounge Acts, Torch Singers, Mambo, Cha-Cha, Exotica, Private Eye Jazz, Way-Out Organ tunes and so much more! Not just your ordinary DJ, he is an Entertainer of sorts, as he improvises during the music on an assortment of instruments such as the Bongos, Glockenspiel, Lap Harp, Chimes, Theremin, Ukulele and assorted Shakers, he encourages participants from the audience to play along with him, "it’s sort of a cheesy lounge act" he says. And his style of dress matches his taste in music, as he does his sets wearing anything from an extremely tacky buy horribly cool, textured polyester leisure suits to stylishly swanky vintage tuxedos.
Used to creating musical theme parties such as "Mambo Madness", "Taboo" or "Spy -vs.- Spy" he is constantly trying to create a scene, helping restaurant, lounge and venue owners attract new people. "The whole idea is to highlight a location, and show that the participating bar is hip to something new, unique and different." Nacho Bizznez is also an accomplished internationally competed award-winning bartender, an event coordinator, and another of his many talents, Nacho Bizznez is a graphic artist, and he puts together the promotional campaign and promotes for every show.
Involved in other engagements such as fundraising events, fairs, and the occasional wedding and numerous popular themed events, people love his uniquely special brand of music.
Although he loves vintage cocktail lounge music, he also throws in new music from new artists that have that vintage sound and feel but that is not all he plays. "I’m pretty versatile, I tailor my music to the location and the event, and I’ve learned to play to the crowd.” I can Beat-Match, Mix and Blend, I play anything from Big Band to Top 40, Remixes, Mash-Ups, EDM, Electronic Chill-Out Lounge, Dubstep and more.
As a DJ, radio personality and entertainer, he's using modern technology to bring vintage lounge music to a new audience. You might say he's on the cutting edge of the past. And why not? As he says, "This music is just a lot of fun." So why dont'cha immerse yourself into his music samples and find a reason to book him.
