Nuclear Oath is a five-member groovy, heavy, sludgy, intense, and interactive metal wrecking crew from Medicine Hat, Alberta. Influenced by such bands as Pantera, Slipknot, Sylosis, Lamb of God, and Avenged Sevenfold, they will be releasing their new album ‘Toxic Playground’ this summer on June 9, 2017 to follow their debut EP ‘Ashes of the Unborn’. The album features such soon to be classics as ‘Into The Depths of Hatred’, ‘Razor Blade Regrets’, Forsaken Wasteland’, ‘Faith Let Go’, ‘Ambushed’, and ‘Sacrifice The Fallen.’”
“We believe the album as a whole should captivate our listeners as we believe it showcases a good creative mesh of all our individual influences from track-to-track. We are here to fucking DESTROY! You can expect even more music in the future after this upcoming LP as we are constantly working on new music.” the band comments.
Their forthcoming album ‘Toxic Playground’ will take the listeners on a journey inspired by the band’s personal experience and struggles combined with intense energy. They hope each individual who listens takes something different from the band.
“We feel it is an aggressive album from start-to-finish, which generates different emotions as the album progresses.”
Live Nuclear Oath takes absolutely no prisoners! They own their mosh pit, being extremely interactive, inviting fans on stage, and going into the crowd. The moment they start playing, the don’t stop moving.

Nuclear Oath come our way from Medicine Hat in Alberta, Canada, with their new single “Razor Blade Regrets“, which will appear on their debut album Toxic Playground this coming summer and is available today via Bandcamp.
This is the band’s fourth release overall, following a debut single in 2015 (“There Goes the Neighborhood“), a 2016 EP (Ashes of the Unborn), and another single from the forthcoming album that appeared last year (“Ambushed“).
In commenting on the track, the band have observed that it “has a catchy groove that we know you will bang your head to throughout the track” and “a message based on internal struggle and turmoil”, and we can’t argue with that. This beast is a mid-pace rumbling steamroller pierced by shattering, acid-spewing shrieks and wild howls, and following a bridge, it punches into destructive nail-gunning mode as well. Heavy-grooved and battering, it’s an infectious, high-energy track.

HE AVULSION
Formed in 2010 as Celestial Coffin until early 2012, The Avulsion are a 5 piece progressive deathgrind machine from Lethbridge, Alberta. The goal of this band is to bring you some of heaviest yet thought provoking extreme music you have heard in recent days. Endless progressions, various ferocious vocal styles from 2 vocalists, neck breaking double kicks and blastbeats, razor sharp yet sledgehammering riffage and filthy basslines are what makes this band into one of the heaviest bands to come out of Alberta. Having played many festivals over the years (Farmageddon, Loud as Hell and Calgary Metalfest to name a few) and opening for big acts such as Veil of Maya, as well as touring in 2014, The Avulsion show no signs of stopping. 2013 saw the release of an 8 song EP entitled "2012 EP", with 2015 seeing the release of their new EP "Unholy" in October.

Western Death -Medicine Hat Punk
5 old dudes who love metal & punk rock & refuse to quit. Western Death play classic hardcore punk along the lines of Black Flag and SNFU, a touch of the Misfits and a smattering of the Smalls, topped off with some tasty hot guitar solos.
Nuclear Oath - Medicine Hat Metal
Nuclear Oath is a 5 piece metal band hailing from Medicine Hat. Alberta, Canada. Having all previously been in bands Nuclear Oath prides themselves on having a variety of influences between the five of them. Combining elements of Thrash, Death Metal, Nu-Metal, Hardcore, and Melodic Metal. Though laid back Nuclear Oath strives to move forward with a hard work ethic and the ability to enjoy everything that comes along with it.
Poke The Bear - Medicine Hat Thrash
If you like songs about The Ninja Turtles, Larry Bird, Blackbeard, and The Dragon Zord, Then we're the band for you. Groovy and technical riffage is our goal when it comes to song writing, all at a fast pace.
Crimson Caliber - Medicine Hat Thrash
Up and coming 3-piece thrash band making their Medicine Hat Debut.
West of Hell is a heavy metal band that was formed in West Auckland, New Zealand. Their objective was to create a sound that would preserve their legendary influences, whilst having modern elements. This perfect blend would evolve the music boldly into the future of Metal.
Founded in 2002 by Ivan Vrdoljak and Andrew Hulme, the duo spent the early months writing, learning, honing and practicing. They then reached the point where a second guitar was needed to evolve the band's sound. After a long, arduous search, friends finally directed them to Sean Parkinson (ex-Sinate). Parkinson found an instant chemistry with Vrdoljak and Hulme. The driven trio immediately got to work, writing songs and forging their trademark sound. Finding the right bassist was also difficult, but two years of monitoring the grapevine led to the discovery of Jordan Kemp. Jordan quickly bonded with his West of Hell bandmates, creating the thunderously tight rhythm section they possess today. With the music locked down all they needed was a frontman.
Having searched without success for the perfect vocalist locally, the band decided to continue the hunt in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. In 2009, the four members uprooted their lives and moved to the other side of the world. In order to share their vision and establish West Of Hell in a larger scene, they needed a singer that was more than just a screamer, which drastically narrowed the possibilities. The band played a series of shows as a four-piece instrumental, drawing critical acclaim, and attracting the attention of the local metal community. The exposure led them to Zimmers Hole frontman Chris “The Heathen” Valagao. It was apparent to the founding members that Valagao's diverse skills were exactly what West Of Hell needed to realize the band’s ultimate vision.
West of Hell was fiercely determined to produce an album of high quality. Unwilling to settle for second best, they hired producer and Juno Award winning engineer Rob Shallcross (Strapping Young Lad, GWAR, Zimmers Hole, Gene Hoglan, Fear Factory, Cocaine Moustache) with whom Valagao had worked with on previous projects. In late 2010, they began work on Spiral Empire at The Factory Studios in Vancouver. West of Hell's debut album will be released in early 2012. The wait promises to be worthwhile.
West of Hell is here to reclaim the great genre of metal that has been diluted by straight edge, clean cut posers who look like rejects from American Idol. West of Hell will lead you back down the path of true metal!
Revenger - With the intent of bringing together technical thrash metal and gritty groove riffs, Revenger was born in 2012 through the hands of guitarist Jean-Pierre Poulin and drummer Chris Warunki. The pair had written music together before and the combination of their styles and personalities was a natural experiment.
In March 2014, Revenger debuted in Vancouver to warm reviews. Their first independent album "To the Wolves" came out in September 2014 with Jordan Knute (lead guitar), Greg Cavanagh (vocals) and Darryl Greer (bass). In early 2015, Revenger’s lineup evolved to include Julia Geaman (drums) and Andrew Bailey (vocals). The following year was largely focused on woodshedding, playing local and regional shows/festivals alongside renowned bands such as Havok, Beyond Creation, Archspire, Tengger Cavalry, Stryker and Unleash the Archers.
2016 saw the introduction of Sean Parkinson on guitar (replacing Jordan Knute), and the interesting switch from guitar to bass for founder and main song writer JP Poulin. Ending the year with a 5 song EP written and ready to be recorded in early 2017, Revenger is ready to tour extensively and work tirelessly to get their music out to the world.
Leave the Living is a five piece metal band with a blue-collar work ethic. Ben Carter, Sean Higgins, Steve McGillivray, Jose Dyck and Justin Shadows formed the band in 2010 in Red Deer, AB. With a heavy focus on live performance, the band plays its own brand of groove metal. With punishing riffs and incredible breakdowns backed by wrenching screams, be prepared to have your face melted.
Nuclear Oath is a five-member groovy, heavy, sludgy, intense, and interactive metal wrecking crew from Medicine Hat, Alberta. Influenced by such bands as Pantera, Slipknot, Sylosis, Lamb of God, and Avenged Sevenfold, they will be releasing their new album ‘Toxic Playground’ this summer 2017 to follow their debut EP 'Ashes of the Unborn'.
Their forthcoming album 'Toxic Plaground' will take the listeners on a journey inspired by the band's personal experience and struggles combined with intense energy. They hope each individual who listens takes something different from the band.
"We feel it is an aggressive album from start-to-finish, which generates different emotions as the album progresses.”
Live Nuclear Oath takes absolutely no prisoners! They own their mosh pit, being extremely interactive, inviting fans on stage, and going into the crowd. The moment they start playing, the don’t stop moving.

Local Metalheads Nuclear Oath are releasing their first Full-Length Album titled "Toxic Playground" and they brought some friends along for the release. The doors open at 8pm with the show starting at 9pm, $10 cover, 5 killer bands.
Nuclear Oath (Medicine Hat, AB)
Nuclear Oath is a five-member groovy, heavy, sludgy, intense, and interactive metal wrecking crew from Medicine Hat, Alberta. Influenced by such bands as Pantera, Slipknot, Sylosis, Lamb of God, and Avenged Sevenfold, they will be releasing their new album ‘Toxic Playground’ this summer 2017 to follow their debut EP 'Ashes of the Unborn'. The album features such soon to be classics as ‘Into The Depths of Hatred’, ‘Razor Blade Regrets’, Forsaken Wasteland’, ‘Faith Let Go’, ‘Ambushed’, and ‘Sacrifice The Fallen.’”

Live Nuclear Oath takes absolutely no prisoners! They own their mosh pit, being extremely interactive, inviting fans on stage, and going into the crowd. The moment they start playing, the don’t stop moving.
Heart's Content (Medicine Hat, AB)
Rooted in Medicine Hat, Heart's Content was an unexpected band to pop up amongst a local scene dominated mostly by punk rock and thrash metal. Founding members Tyler Falk (guitar) and Travis Fox (drums) were pleasantly surprised to find their common interest and passion for melodic hardcore and pop punk, and couldn't wait to express those influences to the Medicine Hat scene for the first time in quite a while.
As the two of them started to write songs for a future EP, they began recruiting more members, starting with Tanner Goring on guitar. Tanner quickly became a foundational member of the band, bringing new influences and highly skilled guitar work to the table. Not long after, Dusten Dease came through on vocals, followed by Tyler Durksen on bass, bringing the complete lineup to fruition.
At that point the band began the process of rehearsing, refining, and soon recording their debut EP. After finally announcing their presence and releasing their debut single in September 2016, the anticipation to perform the music they'd been brewing for nearly a year began to grow, and not long after, the band was given the opportunity to open for Household and Colour in the Clouds – what felt like a very fitting debut show.
Heart's Content continues to grow and seek out new opportunities, dedicated to writing meaningful music and creating an energetic atmosphere when on stage – they are driven to mold a successful future for themselves and can't wait to see what it may hold.
The Avulsion (Lethbridg, AB)
Download free music at theavulsion.bandcamp.com
Formed in the winter of 2007, Train Bigger Monkeys have set out to destroy. With a sound that is both melodic and punishing, TBM has succeeded in creating music that melts faces and blasts minds. With a wide array of influences across numerous metal genres you get a taste of death, thrash, progressive, hardcore and straight up metal all rolled into one. Train Bigger Monkeys always bring an energy, technicality and a true passion to the stage that will challenge anyone not to get involved.
They have had the honour to share the stage with metal legends such as Massacre, Archspire, Incantation and Benighted, and have performed at multiple Death/Chuck Shuldiner tribute shows as well as Vernstock, Farmageddon Open Air, and Calgary Metal Fest.
With 2 full length albums under their belts (The Human Disgrace - 2012 & Divergence - 2014), and a line up that makes it look easy, the band is undoubtedly on their way to success with a sound that is constantly evolving and refining into something truly unique that can only be Train Bigger Monkeys.
Widow's Peak (Calgary, AB)
Canadian death metal band formed in the spring of 2016 ex members of: Arrival of Autumn, Netheriel, The Avulsion, and Pecado.
Crimson Caliber (Medicine Hat, AB)
With a rude, raw and reckless demeanor, Canadian 3 piece thrash unit Crimson Caliber blend old school and new thrash sounds and elements into a unique, original and fresh thrash metal sound. With the bands debut release 'Red Dawn Rising' out and receiving great review, the engine that is Crimson Caliber is well oiled with beer and ready to deliver its fist pumping, high octane blend of thrash metal to the masses. In 2017 the band looks to begin carving out their legacy by playing often and delivering relentless thrash tune after thrash tune, hopefully at a venue near YOU!

ConcertWorks.ca & Calgary Beercore are proud to Present...
In the years since the phrase, “that which does not kill us makes us stronger” was first attributed to German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, it’s become something of a tired cliché. But to an underground band like OBEY THE BRAVE, relentlessly touring the world’s clubs, against obstacles great and small, the maxim still carries the weight of reality. Like the best of the heavy metallic hardcore bands in rock music history, OBEY THE BRAVE embodies Nietzsche’s stark sentiments with furious musical determination.
OBEY THE BRAVE churns out anthems of empowerment born of adversity. It’s the songs that embolden the spirit and exorcise personal demons, whether in the pit or on a day’s commute. Songs like “Raise Your Voice,” “Full Circle,” and “Get Real” are quintessential metalcore bangers.
Mad Season, the band’s diverse and defiant third album, arrives after the most turbulent period of the group’s career. Yet as vocalist Alex Erian puts it with appropriately blunt eloquence: “We’re back stronger than ever.”
Since forming just a handful of years ago in their native Canada, OBEY THE BRAVE has toured the world alongside fellow modern metalcore genre standard bearers like The Amity Affliction, Whitechapel, Blessthefall, Chelsea Grin, Emmure, All Shall Perish, We Came As Romans, and Miss May I, forging meaningful relationships with each audience, show after show.
A series of hardships and obstacles followed the release of the group’s well-received sophomore album, Salvation (2014), which built upon the early promise Young Blood (2012). Both are albums full of raw crunch, sincere attitude, metallic bite, and unadulterated adrenaline. The group weathered two lineup changes, a string of bad luck with an overseas promoter, and a series of false starts in the studio before finally emerging with Mad Season, the band’s most focused, ambitious, and urgently visceral album thus far.
Songs like “Drama,” “The Distance,” and “Rest in Peace” (one of two Mad Season songs delivered entirely in the band’s native French) are packed with power derived as much from real life emotion as huge power chords.
Named for the tumultuous period of its creation, Mad Season is a truly collaborative effort musically and lyrically. Joining shortly into the touring cycle for Salvation, Terrence McAuley (guitar) and Cory Wilson (bass) gelled instantly with original members Erian, John Campbell (guitar), and Stevie Morotti (drums). McAuley also served as co-producer, alongside engineer and mixer Dean Hadjichristou, who has worked with Obey The Brave’s fellow Canadians Protest The Hero and labelmates Parkway Drive.
When it came time to record vocals, Erian reunited with longtime collaborator Antoine Lussier, whose Ion Dissonance bandmate, Kevin McCaughey, guests on “The Distance.” “RIP” features French Canadian rap group Loud Lary Ajust, capturing the party element the band often brings in the live setting.
“Drama” boasts a guest appearance from Steve Marois of Erian’s other band the semi-recently reformed deathcore pioneers Despised Icon.
“I grew up in the death metal scene but Obey The Brave has always been my outlet to explore other aspects of my musical roots and passions,” Erian explains. “Now that Despised Icon is back, I have that outlet for really heavy extreme music, so I can explore with Obey The Brave even more now.”
Mad Season demonstrates a true artistic evolution for the band. Part of that progression includes the introduction of singing vocals alongside the genre’s traditional screaming. This isn’t “emo” crooning, however; it’s much more akin to the raspy declarations of Rise Against and old-school punk.
“We stepped out of our comfort zone with this record,” Erian says. “We didn’t want to put out the same record three times in a row. I spent an entire year trying to perfect my singing. There’s still a lot of screaming on the album, but it was really important for me artistically to try something different and give it my all. It’s very exciting to try to reinvent yourself.”
A mission statement of sorts for OBEY THE BRAVE is right there in the title track: “We all want it / it’s our passion / we’re all lost in the right direction.”
“Sometimes when you’re facing these obstacles, you’re like, ‘why am I still here? Why am I doing this in the first place? Should I get back to the regular nine-to-five and try to get some security?’” Erian confesses. “But this is who I am. This is what I do. This is who we are. We just can’t help ourselves. That’s why ‘though we may feel ‘lost,’ we are lost in the right direction.”
Ultimately each and every step along the way for OBEY THE BRAVE has been worth it, because indeed, “that which does not kill us…” Or to quote another fitting well-known proverb: “nothing ventured, nothing gained.”
“In a weird twisted way I’m thankful for everything it took to get this record made because it all tested our commitment to the band and we’re still here, you know, we’re still swinging,” says Erian. “The bottom line is, we put so much of ourselves into Mad Season and the music speaks for itself.”
