Jay and Imani are two friends who met in 2009 working on a fundraising campaign for human rights. Both sharing the same sense of humor and passion for activism and music, they formed a band called Weekly Chaos. During this exciting and crazy time, they wrote songs about their life experiences. Jay continued on to started his own organization working with non-profits and Imani continued to move up in a large corporate office but they still hoped to pursue music professionally. They played shows around San Diego for 6 years, were featured on the local radio station, and brought in crowds of 400 people on average, but consistently encountered success and setbacks.
An opportunity arose to move to Hawaii, and immediately Jay sold his company, Imani quit her job, and they moved to pursue music full time. The change in lifestyle and musical content induced the birth of Ok2Change. With a new perspective and fresh drive in less than a year, they've released a debut EP, started recording a full album, were a featured performance in Flow Festival 2017, are playing Blessed Coast Festival in Canada and Project Earth Festival in Minnesota summer 2017, and have built up fan bases in San Diego, LA, Seattle, and all over the Big Island of Hawaii. Mentored by Trill Lebeau of Cosmic Serenity, Ok2Change has played alongside artists such as Tubby Love, Amber Lily, Trill LeBeau, Sacr3d, Jus Wright, Sara Tone, Lily Fangz, One Tribe Movement, and more. They have worked with producers such as Jack Miller, Jaledub, and Adam Johnson of The Sonic Root. With years of musical experience, hours of original material, catchy rhymes, and beats to make you dance, Ok2Change is rising rapidly in the wake of hard work, dedication, and pure love of music.
Monday 5:04-8pm, OK2Change'e entire album is played on the local radio station in Maui! Live streaming can be tuned into at Manaoradio.com
