Suzu (n.) - Long lived; Spring, autumn child.
Reign (v.) - hold a royal office
Autumn "Suzu Reign" Brown is an American singer and songwriter. Born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, Autumn knew she had a gift. "My mother raised us up Christian. So in my home, we listened to Shirley Caesar, Ron Kenoly, and Kirk Franklin. These are the people that I remember imitating when I was child. I would sing and dance to their tapes in videos, but didn't think much of it." That is, until her mother relocated her and her brothers to her hometown of York, PA. There, Autumn saw just where her talent came from. Her entire family had the gift of music...from her great grandmother on down. She soon joined the children's choir, and sang lead from time to time. "That's when I knew that something was special about my voice. It was strong. It stood out. I just wasn't fully aware of it at the time."
Autumn began singing in her school's choral, and doing plays. Somehow, she'd end up with a main role every time. While attending high school in Virginia Beach, she landed the lead role in the senior play "Bye Bye Birdie", although she'd only been there for that school year. "Girls who went out for that role were NOT happy haha! They had been 'paying dues' so to speak since freshman year. So this was their year to really shine. Then here I come...taking the spot light. It was crazy...some of them stopped talking to me completely! I knew then, competition will always show you who's for you, and who's not."
She was also very active in her local church. In less than 6 months, she had become an employee of the non-profit organization, and became a teacher in the choir, and for the youth praise and worship team. Being that it was a pretty large church, it helped to mold her even more by sharpening her stage presence, and teaching her to engage her audience.
Now, Autumn is performing as Suzu Reign. Everyone always says that Autumn Brown IS a stage name. "I want to keep the 2 separate. Being a single mom in the entertainment industry, it's easier for me to set my priorities. There's music, and there's my son. they have 2 different calendars!"
