Re-born like 3 phoenixes from the charred ruins of their beloved Motor City, The Luckouts have spread new, glorious wings. Formed in their current incarnation in 2013, The band is fronted by former Ruiners bassist turned guitarist Liz Scaris. Gretchen Domino (formerly of SPAT and Huntress fame) supplies her signature bass style and songwriting ability. And powerhouse, pocket drummer Dan Durecki (formerly of Bootsey X & the Lovemasters, The Luddites fame) ties it all together. Having overcome personal and financial tragedies and coming out on the other side stronger and rocking harder than ever, this power trio stands poised to lead the rocking revival of a new, revitalized Detroit - and beyond. In keeping with their rough and streetwise beginnings, the group's sound is raw, hook-laden, powerful and beautifully unpolished.
The Luckouts had the honor of opening the festivities for the 10th annual St. Clair Riverfest. They shared the stage with national acts Sponge and Starship. However, the opening act gets the added privilege of riding the bandstand barge down the river from its load-in point to the docking port at the festival and rocking bystanders and boaters the whole way down, then performing their whole set at the festival. "It was such a different, cool experience just riding that barge down the river and having people in powerboats cruising along side and partying while we rocked!"
Dan Durecki, drummer for The Luckouts uses and endorses Jeff Rich Custom Drumsticks. "My sticks are a duplicate of the Vater Power 5B model I used to use, but Jeff's sticks hold up to my heavy hitting way better. They are hickory but feel as hard as oak. They defy the splitting and fraying from rim shots that so many other brands seem to do."
