EP OUT 25th NOVEMBER
EP Launch 24th November - tickets here:
Various Guises are the London-based expandable duo of Maya McCourt & Blanche Ellis on cello and guitar (with some acapella vocals and a little washboard thrown in for good measure). Formed late one night around a bonfire in Brockley the girls have been stomping and swaying all over town ever since. Playing original music, influenced by Blanche’s love of old New Orleans songs and Appalachian tunes and Maya’s love of English and European traditional music, the girls close-knit harmonies weave a sense of timeless folk.
The duo are now living up to their name, extending their dark and dreamy aesthetic into artwork and other areas of performance, weaving art, music, writing and an element of the theatrical into their Various Guises. Expect to see more collaborations, exhibitions, original artwork and live-art performances emerging from this space.
