Wes Guy is a 21 year old independent hip-hop artist, poet, & creative writer from North East Portland, Oregon. As a 5th grader at Vernon elementary he began writing his first lyrics and performing in front of his class with the spelling words assigned each week. From a young age these assignments built his vocabulary and gave him a new found interest in music. Blinded by sports Wes Guy took a 4 year Hiatus from the music scene and later picked the pen and pad up during his freshman year of high school. It wasn’t until his sophomore year that he had a chance to record and bring his writings to life. Starting with a few demo tracks and freestyles Wes Guy gained a nice local buzz when a song and video for his first single “Kickback” hit the internet. Following success of the video Guy began working on his first mixtape Nickel Pack Vol. 1 “Finally Green” at the NEPtune Studio in Northeast Portland. The first tape was just a foreshadow of the talent possessed and once the tape hit the airways on 4/20/11 the world witnessed that. During the next year Wes Guy would go on to release 3 more mixtapes on the Nickel Pack series, along with 2 more music videos. In the winter of 2012 Wes Guy released his first Independent album “Treasure in Clay Jars”, on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, & Physical copies. The album was a huge step up from his previous efforts and was consistent, original, and versatile. Since the release of TICJ he has provided two more mixtapes for free download on bandcamp and has continued to broaden his fan base. Wes Guy performed 25+ times in 2012-2014 at various venues in the Portland area. He is constantly striving for progression with each project and wants his audience to grow with him. Wes Guy has not dropped a project in 2014 due to working on a new full length album to release at the beginning of 2015.
