Averweone Darnell Holman, aka "Lil Hood", was born in Kansas City, Missouri to parents Destiny Christine Daniels and James Turner. Four years later, his father passed away while serving a jail sentence, leaving his mother to assume the role of single parent...with sole responsibility for the support, care, and upbringing of two children. Eventually, she and the kids moved to East Saint Louis, Illinois…one of the most violent and dangerous cities in the U.S.
Averweone was bestowed the role of “man of the house” while his mother worked tirelessly to support him and his sister. Thanks to her strict upbringing, and his respect for his mother,, Averweone remained a respectful and obedient kid and maintained impressive grades in school…until the fifth grade.
Thanks to the influence of his peers and encouragement of local area “role models”, Averweone accepted an opportunity in “urban illicit pharmaceutical retail marketing”, where he earned the moniker “LIL’ HOOD”. For the next few years, his drug sales would provide an income…and a path of survival on the dangerous and often deadly streets of East St. Louis.

Through it all, LIL’ HOOD maintained his love for basketball, and developed a deep passion for writing rap music, songs that tell TRUE stories, and TRUE lyrics, of REAL life and death, drugs, chaos, betrayal, loyalty, hate, love, and survival on the toughest, most dangerous streets in America.
