"Anything in life worth having takes hard work and sacrifice. Through unwavering determination and perseverance, dreams will come true."
This is one concept Awrightchuz Lazarus lives by.
Better known as Slimm Pusha, he is not a "rapper" from the South. Born in Alabama, raised in Mississippi, he is best described as a Hip Hop Bluesy Soul artist with an incomparable and unique flow of lyricism that intrigues listeners nationwide.
In 2011, he released multiple projects including his debut, The BingBangBata Mixup followed by If Push Come 2 Shove and I'll Do Magic that garnered popularity with records like, "Lady Friend." Then in 2014, he progressively released Dayvid Blaine: Above The Below which also received major attention from Program Directors in markets, like Memphis and Jackson, achieving hundreds of radio spins without a record deal.
In 2015, his talents were featured more than once on MTV's Rap Fix Live series with Executive Producer and Host, Sway Calloway, including the "Get In The Game" freestyle cypher and another where he was co-signed by Birdman, CEO of Cash Money Records and caught the attention of Paris Hilton who said, "I think he's a star!"
Shortly after, Hennessi: Very Special Combaq was released with popular singles, "Faded***Faces" and "Makesumshake," that also gained rotation on several stations in addition to SirusXM.
On August 26, 2016, Rio Sirah, the brother of Slimm reported that he was found at the bottom of the pool at his apartment. An alleged heart failure while swimming was speculated to be the cause. As a result of this, he suffered lung and kidney complications in ICU, two strokes on both sides of his brain and was put in a medically induced coma. According to doctors and nurses, all efforts were made to save his life, as loved ones were summoned to say their goodbyes.
Three months later, he woke from the coma with no recollection of what occured. He was reverted to a baby, having to relearn what most take for granted. On his proclaimed death bed, no one knows what he saw but when asked he said,
"It's about to go down and I need to clean up and take out the trash."
Slimm Pusha was reborn. He is now Awrightchuz Lazarus. Now in 2022, you can find him working on his 7th studio project titled, The Rightchuz Way.
