“One of Alberta’s hardest working, professional Country Rock acts” is the catchphrase that best describes “BTB”, Backroad Traveler Band. The bands passion for songwriting, high energy shows, and tight delivery has won them fans and repeat shows across Western Canada. Rodeo’s, festivals, corporate and private events, charities, and bars, all love having BTB headline their event. The bands genuine love of live music and their original songwriting that reflects stories of their lead singers rural, farm upbringing, leads to an amazing musical experience for audiences each and every time the band performs.

Testimonial:
"I would highly recommend "Backroad Traveler Band" to any event in need of a live band. They performed at our cabaret the last two years (2018/2019) and brought down the house! I received a lot of positive feedback for our guests as they could not get over how incredibly great these guys were. People have raved about how much fun they had, the music was diverse and the band was amazing.
The flow, style and sound quality of the music that they delivered for us was absolutely perfect. They have what seems like an endless play list. They did a great job of reading the crowd/room and playing songs that kept people partying.
The crowed loved them! We would definitely have them back again and also highly recommend them. Thank you for a Great weekend!"
Trevor Wallace - Vice President Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo (2019).

• "I would like to highly recommend "Backroad Traveler Band" to any organization in need of a group to provide music. In 2018, Riverbend Community Association needed a band to provide music for our Annual Stampede Breakfast. This event is huge - attracting over 5,000 people. The band was amazing! They were professional in all regards coming fully prepared with everything they needed to perform. They were friendly and easy to talk to and work with. Put another way - they were great partners all the way through from the start to the end of the event. Finally, they were able to play a wide selection of songs suitable for the event. As President of my Community Association, I received a lot of positive feedback for our guests and residents this year on using this band, and I would highly recommend them to anyone, anywhere, anytime, for anything!"
Douglas Ratke - President Riverbend Community Association (2018).
" From initial expectations through to completion, “Backroad Traveler Band” demonstrated true professionalism and accompaniment. The band was extremely accommodating when it came to dates, start times, media exposure and cost. Their 4 Sets at each event were all top notch and the music selection was well received and pleased by everyone. This is not just a band that comes out to make money and play music. They are a group that wants to make your venue successful and provide a lasting impression while ensuring everyone is having a good time.
The selection of entertainment for special events can be extremely challenging for any profitable &/or non-profitable organization due to cost, locations, set-up and music genre but I would highly recommend Backroad Traveler for any event requiring live music as they made these related challenges a lot easier to deal with!"
Shane Darling – Chairman Millarville Heritage Rodeo (2018).
Many of us end up living in the city for work, education, whatever... But it's the open skies, long empty roads, someone special we left that draw us back to the Country. "Ain't Changing My Mind" is a story of a young man whose had enough of the big city and he's decided to head back home...

The Band just released our New Single with Video to Throw me the keys!
Do you ever feel like just tuning some great music on the radio, leaving the world behind, and hitting the road with the top down? Well... “Throw Me the Keys, let’s drive down to California…” Somewhere between the Beach Boys and Buddy Holly, Backroad Traveler Band’s new release “Throw Me The Keys” mixes Country influences with the freedom of a little 60’s Rock & Roll. Great harmonies and power guitars bring out the best in BTB and their contribution to original Canadian Country Music!
Check out the music & video Tab
The Band's new single "Burn It Down" has been nominated for Country recording of the year at the annual YYC Music Awards on September 23rd, 2018.
"We're very honored to be included with some other great local artists & look forward to an awesome evening of music!" says Harold Fast, lead singer/guitarist & song writer.
Strains of Jason Aldean… “Every once in awhile, I see the storms lining up in the heavens…” A relationship in trouble. Sometimes it’s the heartbroken writer that pens the best heart-felt song… There’s no more use in trying, so “Burn it Down”. This is pure, simple, country rock. Pounding drums, sizzling guitars, and four-part harmony soaring over Hammond organ… Backroad Traveler Band at its best.
We're excitied to be asked to play the Country 105 Stage at Country Thunder Calgary on Aug 17th from 4 -5pm.
This is the 2nd year in a row & we sincerely appreciate the invite to entertain an amazing crowd once again!
The band next Single & Video has now been released! BURN IT DOWN was just nominated for Country recording of the year at the YYC MUSIC AWARDS!
Every once in a while, along comes a song that just perfectly balances power guitars, driving drums and the sadness of a shattered relationship. Using imagery of slamming doors, dark skies, and clouds “coal black from end to end”, “Burn it Down” takes a soulful look at what once was; “She closes her eyes when we kiss and I see it in my mind, a moment of love in her heart, but we’ll leave it all behind, we ain’t even trying”… “Burn it Down” is one of Backroad Traveler Band’s best songs, a story of futile love, surrounded by the tempest of a raging storm…
Check out the video or music tab & enjoy!
Don Wilson Joins BTB as a Full- time Rythm Guitarist.
Don started playing music at 6 years old learning his craft on the organ in Regina. At 11 he shifted his focus to drums. When he realized it’s hard to write music with only a drum kit (although he plans to one day) he picked up a guitar, learned what a power chord was and began to teach himself how to play. He has written many songs in different musical styles over the years.
After going to school in Vancouver in 2007 to take an Audio Engineering and Music Production course Don came back to Calgary in 2008 and he found great fun doing sound and playing in front of different crowds. He began doing sound then drumming for Claymore, a Celtic band and playing in pubs and Celtic festivals across the western provinces and then he fronted his own original music rock band Piranhacat with BTB drummer Bartek Chlebowski for a few years before joining BTB himself as a rhythm guitarist, part-time in 2011. He then returned to Regina for 3 years in 2014 to see what else life had in store for him. He has now returned and is back playing and having fun and is grateful for a full-time role with BTB.
His motto is to always think of something, never of nothing, but acknowledge everything.
He brings experience, fun and great musicality to the band and will make an awesome addition!
