Chris Gantt is an American country music singer/songwriter. His sound is uniquely his own, he is self taught and embraced many diverse musical influences over the course of his life. Whether he is singing a cover of David Allen Coe, Jamie Johnson, Rise Against, Pearl Jam or even Vanilla Ice he is never far from his roots. His original songs cleverly pay tribute to these artists as well as the family, friends and jobs that have helped shape his unique perspective.
Starting young in his hometown of Gambier Ohio, he hit the stage in an elementary school talent show with a stirring rendition of “Somewhere Out There”. That talent show gave him his first taste, and he has loved the stage and an audience ever since.
After graduating high school, factory work took Chris out of Ohio and away from music. It was the birth of his son that brought music back to Chris’ life. Picking his guitar and singing to his infant son gave Chris back the sound track he had been missing for so many years. He soon returned to his roots in Mount Vernon.
In 2010 Chris began performing professionally. Following his music, Chris has performed everywhere from the shores of Lake Erie to Nashville, from the Quarter Horse Congress playing for cowboys to benefit shows playing for the wounded. On any given night you can catch him on stage performing a mix of eclectic covers and his own original songs.
His travels have inspired many of his original songs. Whether it’s the last request of the night to “Play Me Some Coe”, the “Girl in the Camouflage Shirt” across the bar that you just can’t forget, “That Old Pond” that makes you miss your family when they’re gone, or even that girl that loves “Fast Cars” horses, guitars and Chris himself, you can be sure every one of them came straight from the life he’s lead.
Chris currently books shows at most venues and special events, as well as working full time and producing his own album.
