Dedication is more than a word to Dolla Black, it describes him as a person, his lifestyle, and the way he records and makes records. Born Brandon Howard in Jackson, MS, Dolla Black has risen to be one of the most impactful, sought after, and talented artists to come out of Mississippi. Boasting a natural, deep, baritone voice, Dolla Black has positioned himself as one of the premier artists in the south. 

Dolla Black started his career as a member of the rap group “Dem Boyz” with his cousin La Roc. As a member of Dem Boyz, Dolla Black has been featured on two mixtapes and has developed his lyrical intelligence, ability to fit his style of into every track and has used his keen understanding of music to create masterpieces that get overwhelming response from fans today with track such as “Fist Pump” and “601 Wayz”, which garnered them a nomination for the Jackson Music Award for Artist/Group Of The Year. 

Soon after his label, Black Dolla Entertainment (BDE) was created. He says: “Becoming the CEO of my own company and nominated in the Artist of the Year category has been the most notable events of my career. “There aren’t many feelings greater than making progress in what I feel like is my destiny. It takes the place of every feeling of frustration as an artist and makes every moment of the wait worth it.” 

On September 19th, 2014 Dolla Black released “Let Me Work”, his 1st full-length album as a solo artist. Fueled by the momentum and aggressively upbeat sound of the first single, “Ain’t F*ckin Wit Me”, “Let Me Work” became one of the most talked about album in the state of Mississippi. The album won Album of The Year Award at the inaugural Jackson Hip-Hop Awards. The album also allowed him to tour on fellow Mississippian and Def Jam Recording Artist BIG K.R.I.T.’s “Cadillactica” Tour. 

Since “Let Me Work”, Dolla Black has continued to provide his fans with new music. In October of 2015, he released the 5-song “BlackOut EP” which was entirely produced by AVEVO. The lead singles “100 M’s” and “Shook” quickly became fan favorites & helped the EP spread throughout the region and helped Dolla Black perform with Atlanta newcomer ScottyATL (No Genre / Atlantic Records) during his “No HandOuts Tour”. 

2016 marked a career achievement for Dolla Black and his music when ESPN, the Global Leader in Sports News, licensed his newly released single “All Day”. The song was featured, daily, on both their flagship shows “First Take” and “Sportscenter”. Several news and media outlets covered this accomplishment from the Clarion Ledger to HipHopWeekly.com. 

Vice president of Def Jam Records, Grammy nominated, and multiplatinum-selling producer DJ Don Cannon says “Dolla Black is a genuine artist that creates music that celebrates the wins of life and the struggles of adversity”. 

A&R of Grand Hustle Records and official DJ for multiplatinum-selling artist T.I., DJ MLK says “Dolla Black brings a energy to his music that I haven’t heard in years. His voice speaks of passion, determination, and the will to achieve greatness”. DJ MLK featured “Ain’t F*ckin Wit Me” on two of his mixtapes, with Maybach Music Group DJ/Artist Dj Scream, during the 2014 NBA All-Star Weekend and the 2014 CIAA Weekend.
