Freaka stage name D $Rich$ was born in Dade City, Fl and grew up in Newark, NJ. He’s always had a genuine love for music and dancing since before his birth due to his mother’s passion for the two.
D $Rich$ as a young teen would travel from Jersey to Florida often. All the while honing and displaying his skills in rap beatboxing and dancing.
Freaka was also a snare drummer for Weequahic High School and as a student of music and dance he also helped to choreograph a lot of the marching band’s dance routines. The Weequahic Marching Indians placed first in every competion or event they competed in as a result of his contributions along with others.
D $Rich$ played in jazz band for his high school called the shades of brown as a teen too. He entered and one local contests and talent shows in the Essex/Union county areas in Jersey.
By doing so he was able to meet Pekae Chill and Diezzle Don whom just happen to be the legendary rapper’s Redman’s mentor (D-Don).
D $Rich$ became their hype man (Diezzle Don & The Governor) for a series of years before branching off and starting his own career a few years afterwards. Freaka was a founding member of D Don and The Gov as well as The Brick Mob of New Jersey. Over the years Freaka became a forefather of Jersey Hip Hop in Newark. He has ghost written for the Great and Legendary Artist Ecstacy of Whodini (R.I.P.) as well.
D $Rich$ has Worked on projects with legendary Artists/Producers such as Redman, Faith Evans, Do It All Do, and Stevie J.
Freaka has recreated himself and now goes by the artist known as D $Rich$ who is not only a artist but also the CEO of Luxury Family Entertainment LLC. He has released a compilation album entitled Big Bruh and two singles Entitled OKAY!!!! Which is under the artist name Freaka The Don, and Get Money which is under the artist name Freaka. At the present moment D $Rich$ is set to release a single with a video entitled Built For This off of his new EP entitled It Gets Greater Later. The new project will be available on all digital platforms May 2, 2021. As a CEO Freaka will be releasing projects from the Lux Fam Roster by artists such as........ J-Klipps , Cappo Di Cappi, Kinn Dawg, Big Joker, Monee Mitch, Skate Saluti, and Dem Boyz. Along with the Lux Fam Clothing Line of course! It’s gonna be lit for the next 10-15 years with the Lux Fam Movement. You’ll be hearing from our Jersey and Florida artists on our From The Brick To The Sticks Compilation Albums hitting the streets, internet, and radio this summer!!! On this Episode we celebrate the history of Hip-Hop from Newark, NJ. Freaka talks the 80s and 90s while giving us the names and the stories of the MCs and People that made Brick City pop with the Culture. We salute Gov Mattic (RIP) and give him his flowers as well. This is a celebration of his life and contribution to not only the city but the Industry as well.
