The Fun Guise and The Deadwood Boys share many of the same members, and both are jam bands with set lists that include both cover songs and originals. Rotating members allows greater flexibility for shows.
Jimmy and Paul both write, words and lyrics. Influences among members include Grateful Dead, Hendrix, and other classic artists. Band members have been playing between 23 and over 50 years, cumulatively 145 years
All have been interested in music from a very young age and have mastered a variety of instruments among them, from drums and guitar to harmonica and eukelele.
Some of the members have known each other over 20 years, with the newest band members coming just a few years ago. Although they vary in the varieties of music they favor, all are rock fans.
The Deadwood Boys are a newer, simpler offshoot of the Fun Guise primarily focusing on acoustic performance.
Their set list includes songs suited for acoustic guitars. The Deadwood Boys are a small group with two guitarists, with or without a drummer, while the Fun Guise will have both lead and rhythm guitars (electric), a bass player, and one, sometimes two drummers.
The Fun Guise offer something that very few, if any local bands have: a full VJ Projection Show.
Think of Pink Floyd, with computer generated images projected onto a screen behind the band. The backgrounds on this page are still shots from the show. Live action can be seen in our videos.
Unlike most projection shows, these images are mixed live to follow with the music, so every performance is unique. Indoor shows use one projector and a 6'x8' screen. Larger or outdoor shows can be done with either one or two larger projectors and 10'x12' free standing projection screens.
Another advantage of the VJ setup is that we will sometimes feature advertising between sets as a way of thanking our host and supporting businesses as well as promoting other events. The ads are produced by our own in-house graphic artist and V.J. (Visual Jockey), Debra Daun.
The VJ show is available as a stand-alone, tailored for whatever style music is featured. In the past it has been performed behind rock, alternative, dance and even a D.J.
