Lisa Reyes was born in Montebello, California and raised in Hacienda Heights, California where she attended local schools. Lisa began her singing at age 5, thanks in part to her father, Pedro Rey, a legend in his own right within the mariachi world, who is a 5th generation member of the Hernandez dynasty. Pedro is long known for excellence in instrument and vocal interpretation. Lisa grew up around many high profile singing artists and mariachi musicians so it wouldn’t be long before her father would recognize Lisa’s vocal gifts.
Lisa debuted at age 9 in front of a sold out crowd of 17,000 at the Mariachi USA Hollywood Bowl Festival. At 13, she sang at the San Gabriel Civic Auditorium accompanied by her father’s mariachi, Mariachi Los Galleros de Pedro Rey. In 2001, Lisa Reyes was invited to record for Celia Cruz, one of Latin Music’s most respected vocalists, as a chorus backup singer for the song, “Carnival” (mariachi version). Between 2002 and 2013, Lisa sang as a featured soloist at the Premier Fiesta Mexicana Restaurant. Mrs. Reyes also recorded for American singer Vikki Carr (2012) on her “Viva la vida” album. Lisa sang as the backup chorus for the Los Angeles born Mexican singing star, Marisela, known as “La dama de hierro”.
Lisa has her mariachi and ranchera genre roots deep in her blood. She is now beginning her ranchera soloist career, launching a brand new CD, “Échame a mí la culpa” (2013). Respectively the radio stations “La Mejor” 88.1 FM of Detroit and ”Radio Sol” 1430 am of South Carolina report they’ve already been playing her single release, receiving a high amount of listener requests and high ratings. Lisa Reyes is an impactful soloist and a true entertainer. She will single handedly capture the audience with her unique ranchera style, reaching the heart and soul of everyone.
