Mike Caro - Has been making music since age three, started his first band at ten years old and has never stopped since. He grew up truly loving all styles of music, and always credits his family as an influence. From R&B to Rock and all Popular Music of every single decade.
After two decades of playing in rock bands and showcasing for major record labels, Mike took more to songwriting and home recording. This was essential in developing his EXTREME VERSATILITY for both songwriting styles and playing multiple instruments such as Guitars,Bass,Drums,Keyboards and Vocals along with production skills. He is fluent and effective both lyrically and melodically and nevermind rhythmically!
His groove style Bass playing landed him recording session work in NYC for major record labels and top flight artists such as Gloria Estefen, Michael Jackson,Celine Dion,Thelma Houston, The Thompson Twins, Jon Secada, Erasure,The Farm, and many others. During this time he hooked up with Acid Jazz Band "The Daou" as guitarist and they were signed to Columbia Sony Records in 1992. The band enjoyed a #1 Hit on Billboard Magazines Dance Chart, titled "Surrender Yourself" Mike quickly starting working as both a staff songwriter and session player for various labels.
Soon after Mike embarked on tour with MCA recording artist the lovely and talented Vanessa Daou. Performing all over the country from the House Of Blues in LA to The Fox Theatre in Colorado all the way to headline shows in Paris France. All in the meantime he continued to build his home recording studio and write with life long friend Mike Falco making several Original CD's under the name "Falcaro" Mike felt even more drawn to writing songs with various people and spending more time home in the studio & closer to his family.
His songwriting along with his production skills grew stronger. Word got around and it captured the attention of Former VP of Epic Records Ron Alexenburg as well as Mike Appel former Bruce Springsteen manager and co-producer of Born To Run. Both music business savvy record guys hired Mike as a producer, musician & recording engineer, not only due to his abilities but for his undeniable genuine warmth and personality. Simply If you know Mike you love him.
In 2006 he landed 4 original songs in the critically acclaimed movie "Pope Dreams" along with co-writers & musicians & friends John Thomas & Dennis Delgaudio. His novelty song "I'm Like Brooklyn" is very popular on You Tube. He mentors and works with many young kids and develops them as recording artists along with musician and long time friend Laine Thompson.
Bad long running health issues side lined Mike but could not dent his love of music and drive. His last CD Taking On Forever an instrumental powerhouse is a deep ride through the soft subtle side and the uplifting driven side of Mike Caro. The CD ranges from Jazz to Acoustic pieces, R&B, Latin, Big Band, Classical and is both song orientated and virtuoso like at the same time.
Mike always attributes his success too and insists on thanking the following musical people, Sweet Leaf, Side Two, Neil Camillo, Mike Falco, Andy B Badd, Stacy Parris, Tommy Musto,Peter & Vannesa Daou,John Thomas, Dennis Delgaudio, Eddie O'loughlin, Ron Alexenburg, Mike Appel.
Watch out for young artists Kacey Velazquez and Julia Gargano!
Thanks for reading. Lots to write about a career that spans 40 years already and still has better things to come.
