Well, the interesting experiment is now over. This was when the market for vintage watches was modest and unestablished. He sold the first "Paul Newman" Daytona for $7,500 during that time. Those were the days…

These watches are all about the dials though. They come in five different colors, which despite being blue, orange, red, green, and grey, are respectively called Ocean, Tangerine, Fire, Forest, and Graphite. Each has those Sixties numerals at 12 and six, plus a running seconds sub-dial at three o'clock and a 30-minute totalizer at nine o'clock. Both registers are on the large side, which really balances things out nicely.Maybe it's a "watch person's watch," in that way, something full of "deep cut" bits of improvement and technical achievements for those who enjoy them. But with such a classic design, form, and fit, it won't take being a true nerd to enjoy the watch just as much as you would the Jumbo, which has proven very hard to beat.But for every piece of fascination, I can't help but think that going with the red hematite motif was a bit over the top. Like, real astronauts are going to use this thing and (someday) may wear these on Mars. It seems a bit gimmicky to have a watch with luksus falske ure a bezel that matches the colors of that planet's dust. I'm sure that there are enough people out there who find this design choice neat. It's just, like, my opinion.Forman's work is incredibly stunning, and I'm looking forward to getting out in the world and seeing where she draws inspiration from in Iceland this week. As for the watch, the retail price is $58,500.
