Hailing out of Dayton, Ohio this rock band continues to shock the music industry with their high intensity shows and their unique style of music. It is rock with an eclectic blend of all genres which has been described as hippie rock or just kick ass rock and roll. They have made 6 appearances in major U.K. and worldwide publication, "Stencil Magazine," which also features a review of their single, "What You Feel Inside," and their debut self-titled album. The album features Doane Perry, Martin Barre, and Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. In the past they have been on the road with Journey, Jethro Tull, and the Doobie Brothers. They ended 2018 opening for Otep. They started 2019 off opening for Altitudes and Attitude, the brainchild of Megadeath and Anthrax bassist Frank Bello and David Ellefson, and Saving Abel. They will be opening for the Bulletboys coming up. Their music is not anything that has ever been heard. Full Album Review (Page 193)- https://issuu.com/stencilmag/docs/issue47

Nerak Roth Patterson Band rocks double at Taffy’s of Eaton

History is filled with tales of famous father and son duos, from Solomon and David to know-it-all cartoon dog Mr. Peabody and his adopted human son, Sherman. But is the world ready for the combination of two Nerak Roth Pattersons in the same band?
Taffy’s of Eaton will find out Saturday, May 13, when Nerak Roth Patterson, Sr. and Nerak Roth Patterson, Jr. take the stage together to lead the Nerak Roth Patterson Band (NRPB). With the addition of drummer Mark Day, the recently re-formed rock/blues trio has come back strong with a new album and a bold new sound—but it hasn’t been easy.
Hailing from Yellow Springs, the band has existed for years in various forms, all led by veteran guitarist Nerak Roth Patterson, Sr. Well-known for his early guitar work with Guy Davis, Patterson, Sr. was a protégé of sorts to Ohio Player Leroy “Sugarfoot” Bonner and has toured with a list of rock and blues legends, ranging from B.B. King to Jethro Tull. One of Patterson, Sr.’s albums, Brown Angel, also features an appearance by Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull.
The current Nerak Roth Patterson Band emerged as a three-piece group, following a series of unexpected lineup changes about a year ago.
“Our band’s been together for about a year now as a three-piece,” Patterson, Sr. says. “It’s really strange. My son started out with me as a guitar player. His first show was the Blues Festival in Yellow Springs, and his second show was opening up for B.B. King … I took him on his first tour when he was 11 and I was on tour with Jethro Tull.”
Patterson, Jr. says he joined the group almost by accident when he asked his dad if he could “try out the bass.” Before his son joined, Patterson, Sr. was ready to call it quits.
“I was going to give all my gear to my son and just tell him to keep playing, so it was really cool,” he recalls. “My son was the one who told me to keep on playing. We started kind of just writing and collaborating on tunes together, and the next thing you know, this album evolved.”
“When Dad was going to quit, spiritually, it didn’t feel right,” Patterson, Jr. adds. “Dad showed me some of the music he had written a while back, but he didn’t have the right band to play it. That’s when I told him this stuff’s way too good not to be released. And we both wanted to transition to something different musically.”
With the addition of Mark Day on drums, the band finally found the right lineup for the music Patterson, Sr. had written.
“Mark Day was the perfect fit for the band,” he says. “He’s also our background vocalist, along with other percussion goodies. He does it all, and the cool thing is we’ve adopted each other as family.”
Patterson, Sr. and Day first crossed paths decades ago, but the two didn’t really meet until recently.
“Mark Day was Sugarfoot’s road manager,” Patterson, Sr. says. “Our paths have crossed since the ’80s … We have this history.”
NRPB is currently working on a new album, tentatively titled The Way You Feel Inside.
The album is being produced and engineered by Eric and Geno Stewart, who also contributed background vocals and percussion tracks. It will also feature Martin Barre, the original guitarist for Jethro Tull, and Doane Perry, Jethro Tull’s drummer from the mid ’80s through 2011.
The album is already garnering attention from Warner Brothers Records.
I’m hoping that we’ll release this in June,” he continues. “The sound is incredible. I’m really excited about it.”
