Samadhi is a Sanskrit term for the state of consciousness induced by complete meditation. Samadhi's mission is to enable our audiences to be absorbed in meditation on bhakti. We combine the purity of kirtan and mantra chanting with the infectious melodies and danceable rhythms of a variety of music styles. Samadhi doesn’t just have one sound but many—not surprising given the diverse tastes of its seven members. With influences that include jazz, gospel, indie, rock n’roll, and soul, their chants range from moments of sweet intimacy to resounding expressions of power. Despite this variety, they always strive to engage their audience, knowing that the audience is not in fact an audience at all but is instead an integral part of the chant itself. For them, the rhythm of kirtan, of many voices meeting one singer’s heartfelt call, is where love finds its fullest spiritual expression.
