DJ Mase entered the Detroit radio scene at the age of 18 while still in high school. There he developed a love for music that ultimately lead him to become an original "Bomb Squad" DJ member at Channel955 FM Detroit. Mase did double duty for fellow Clear Channel Radio Station KissFM 92.5 (Toledo, OH) in 2003. During that time period he learned the art of flawless mixing in front of large crowds as he performed live broadcast from different night clubs.
Mase continues to strive to become bigger than life for what most would call a hall of fame detroit career. Leaving his legacy as one of Detroit's all time top DJs. He currently holds the title of "Detroit's Mixtape King", with over 400 hosted mixtapes within the past 5 years. Honored in 2007 with "Mixtape DJ of the Year" & countless mixtapes featured on MTV' Mixtape Monday, Mase caught the attention of major Detroit Hip-Hop acts including members of Shady Records.
Over the past 5 years Mase has tour DJ'd for Shady Records recording artist Obie Trice, D12, Joe Budden, and Royce Da 5 9. He still balances his solo DJ career and continues to support Royce Da 5 9 for all major tours. Mase's international fan base has grown over the years due to his consistent booking in Europe and Canada. He has become one of the most influential names in the Detroit music scene. Recognized for his high-energy DJ sets and his enthusiastic approach to entertain crowds this newly corporate sponsored "Monster DJ" still has much to prove. Now being associated with the names of MTV's DJ skribble, toronto's Baby Yu, and BET/DC radio host Big Tigger, Mase will be presented at an even higher level of entertainment.

Dj Young Mase is a Detroit based Hip Hop mix-tape DJ who is formally ‘DJ Mase‘ of the hit radio station channel 95.5 WkQl Detroit where he worked for 7 years.
Dj Young Mase has hosted mix-tapes for local Detroit artist on his ‘Detroit takeover mix-tape series’ like: BIG BUS, Royce Da 5″9, D12, K-Deezy, Stretch Money, and Tone Tone Amongst Others.

INTERVIEW PART I:
ADRIAN: The last time we spoke you were in Montreal on tour. What is the Hip Hop Scene like in Canada and Europe?
DJ YOUNG MASE: The canadian hip-hop scene is complete different than the US market. Its more like canadian hip-hop is trying to get better and work its way to becoming a good MC. while european hip-Hop is special. They appreciate hip-hop In all its art forms. Especially Detroit Hip-Hop. I can be in Amsterdam walk into a coffee shop and see a picture of J. Dilla on the wall.
ADRIAN: Did you get a chance to see Big Sean’s BET performance. How do you think Big Sean’s emergence onto the HIP HOP scene will help other aspiring Detroit artist’s.
DJ YOUNG MASE: I’m happy for Big Sean. I didn’t get to see him perform. But I heard he did a good job. I remember meeting Sean right after he got signed and had no clue he was a rapper. Its crazy because he was super quite and hardly spoke. Now he’s got major swag and good people around him in his early career. Hopefully he can continue his great success for a long time to come.
ADRIAN: The last that I checked Eminem and Royce Da 5″9 were #1 according to sound scan. What do you think about the collaboration? What do you think about the album?
DJ YOUNG MASE: #1 album in the country and it was an EP. 11 tracks. I’m extremely happy for Detroit to have the #1 LP in the country. Congrats to Roycefor working extremely hard for his career. Young Detroit rappers can learn fromRoyce and Marshall. This was an important day for Hip-Hop and a very important stand for Detroit Hip-Hop.
ADRIAN: Whats DJ’s influenced you growing up. What did you learn working with fellow (affiliate) DJ member’s DJ Drama and Don Cannon?
DJ YOUNG MASE: I studied all my favorite DJs. Kid Capri, he’s #1 on the list. I watched his youtube videos and checked out all of his documentary’s. From start to finish DJ Clue is the man that made me want to DJ. ill never forget when I first heard “The Professional” LP. Classic Killer Mike and Busta Rhymesmixtapes from the Aphilliates made me focus on becoming Detroit’s leading mixtape general.
ADRIAN: With Atlanta producing allot of talent these day’s. How can you compare the mix-tape scene in Detroit to Atlanta?
DJ YOUNG MASE: The mixtape scene isn’t the same anywhere. Atlanta, Detroit, NY, LA. Mixtapes haven’t and never will be the same since Drama got arrested. But its all about who’s looking and what type of fan you are. If your a Hip-Hop cat, Detroit might be it for you by listening to Big Sean tapes, Elzhi tapes and Royce is on top right now. But if your listening to southern artist you would say that Atl is on top.

DJ YOUNG MASE: I just haven’t finished what I started. I’ve take time off before to evaluate if I really wanted to continue and I’m still here. I’m doing more things that fit me better. As artist I feel we try to do to much. You have to really go through it to realize what is in your best career interest.

Dirty Nation tour
D12 has announced that a new North American tour is official. The first tour date is April 23rd in Cleveland, OH. The tour will start in the Mid-West of the United States then travel West for 4 weeks. With the last 4 weeks of the tour taking place in Canada, the group will travel back East from Vancouver to Thunder Bay and then head South for a final show in Detroit.
