There is something infectious about Alabama Rose, something immediately arresting or even downright lovable about the authentically pure way that she seems to approach music. She writes lyrics that make you think as easily as it makes you emote. Quickly garnering a reputation for her energetic live performances and live studio recordings, Alabama Rose is an emerging rock & roll artist from Birmingham, AL. Her music has been described as blending elements of surf, soul, blues and old-west twang to create modern music with a vintage twist. Fittingly, on a track of emotional and sonic exploration, it is perhaps the lyrics to “Come With Me” that set the tone most clearly.
There is no doubt that this track will be on many playlists alt-rock lists as it is a front-to-back exercise in both lyrical and tonal quality, with as much of Alabama Rose’s personal afflictions as there is overt social commentary. It’s a track that is made for quiet introspection and road trips alike, not to mention a song that will only solidify Rose’s status as an artist with something to say, a unique way to say it, and a message worth hearing.
Her strong melody meets a resonant voice that’s brimming with confidence, and a band that’s learned to trust itself to breathe and show restraint at times rather than instinctively dousing the song in total crunch.
In a time of great selfishness and narcissism, maybe the next generation of divas will be measured not by how they command the spotlight but by how they share it. That’s the lesson Alabama Rose hands out as she weaves, blends and morphs with the music, and the band.
The result is quick wordplay and offbeat phrasing, mixed with bare-bones sincerity, proving Alabama Rose has got multiple gears as a singer-songwriter. In a world where one needs to navigate between digital alter-egos or compromised versions of the truth, Alabama Rose is a reliable source to serve up her raw inner reality through song.
“Come With Me” is a condensed summation of both Alabama Rose’s state of mind and her uncanny ability to pair close-to-the-bone lyrics with incredibly infectious melodies. The singer-songwriter’s effortless tunesmithing is a preternatural force.
The way the raspy and jangling rhythm guitars melt into the song’s mid-tempo haze, while the chunky bass and beating drum bubbles just below the veneer, serves as a reminder of how Alabama Rose’s compositions suggest emotional moods. The rest is dealt out by a narrative filled up with communication, vulnerability, struggles, and a whole lot of general human behavioral traits.
Possessing both a pragmatic sensibility and a succinct profoundness, Alabama Rose’s voice is powerful, full-toned and contemplative, as she weaves between her own stream of consciousness. Listening to Alabama Rose is at once like a steadying hand on the shoulder and listening to an especially articulate and perceptive friend detail how they’re going through the same stuff as you.
With “Come With Me”, she’s produced a five-minute-plus reflection of the human condition that’s a triumph of candor and honesty from one of the most engaging and captivating singer-songwriters around.
Birmingham-based rock musician Alabama Rose just released a song that was basically made for your next great adventure. “Come With Me” boasts ethereal reverb for days, and robust vocals that weave gracefully in and out of guitar-heavy instrumentals. We’re hearing hints of Zooey Deschanel and Joan Jett coming through, a sound that is enigmatic and timeless all its own. As Alabama Rose urges you to “Come With Me”, the urge to move energizes you. This song is perfect for road trip weather and lazy, beautiful days in the grass.

While some of the talking points both for and against abortion may have merit, this deeply personal protection is being used as a political and religious gimmick to the detriment of women.
Abortion has been a protected right in America for over 40 years. It is not usually the first guard for women against unplanned pregnancy, but it is an important one. Birth control is not fail-safe, and though some argue that women shouldn't have sex if they can't accept the potential consequences of it, this is an archaic argument that has proven to be dangerous time and again. It is a right for single women, for married women, for young and older women, for religious or non-religious women, for all women, to choose when, if, and how they have children.
As wages continue to stagnate and the cost of living continues to increase, supporting children is becoming more difficult in America. With our current laws, a woman can easily find herself pregnant and alone. The right to an abortion helps women and girls who are faced with uncertainty keep their lives from steering in a potentially difficult direction forever. Even within the confines of a loving family, the right to choose when and how to have children is vital.
Abortion does not equate with promiscuity. It is not for shameful women or invaluable women. It is for all women, should they ever need it. There is much that can be said about a biblical argument against abortion, but separation of church and state are critical to equality in America. This discussion is not about the sanctity of life. Everyday there are thousands of homeless, hungry and uneducated children living in America alone. This argument is about ending a woman’s right to bodily autonomy, and undoing over 40 years of work that helps women have the right to choose when and how they plan their families.

Alabama Rose is a developing rock artist with an original sound that’s dark and hypnotic. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, Rose blends vintage rock, soul, blues, and roots music into modern songs that she records live to capture the true human essence of what she does. Her latest release, the single “Come With Me,” is now available on all major streaming platforms and the track is a wonderful bit of driving rock and roll with a hint of reverb-drenched psychedelics around the edges. It was recorded live in Nashville at The Bomb Shelter by Jon Estes (Jon Paul White, Jeff Coffin, Bela Fleck) and mastered by TW Walsh (Sufjan Stevens, Ben Gibbard, The Shins) and these two pros helped Rose bring the heat, translate her energy to tape, deliver us a song that immediately pulls listeners into its universe.
It’s an invitation to escape and puts Rose’s desire to disappear into the ether never to return front and center. It’s the sort of thing everyone thinks about but few ever accomplish. Everything about “Come With Me” feels like the endless road trip of a lifetime, from its highway-speed groove to the wide-open spaces of Rose’s lyrics and melody. She reaches out to those feeling her message, telling them to “take your cross and come with me.” Rose reminds us that the road is often a place of redemption and rebirth where you can live out a new story any time you need to by simply hitting the nearest interstate.
The video is a travelogue of footage shot by Rose and her husband over the last year or so of the people and places they encountered while shaking their own burdens loose. It has an amazing randomness to it that feels like the blur of memories that have piled up after a long trip. Its homespun vibe is also appealing and honest and enhances an already-strong song. Alabama Rose may be a fresh name to some but she deserves a place in your record collection. She’s providing just the sort of personal authenticity the world needs.

Fresh from the upcoming EP L.O.V.E, Come With Me is a colorful and partly organic, partly shoe-gaze-soaked release that introduces the Alabama Rose sound in a bold and beautiful way.
Leading with the subtle swagger of Americana, accompanied by reverb-soaked vocals and a generally simple but reflective set-up, the song pours through with a sense of fullness and high energy, yet it does so amidst a notably delicate mood. Simple short lines pave the way towards a brief instrumental breakdown, making for a quickly memorable and addictive melodic structure, and with this you slowly but surely get swept away by the revealing honesty and intention of the lyrics.
The further into this near six-minute journey you get, the more the familiar embrace of these elements begins to engage and entertain. The song quickly progresses from indie-rock enjoyment to anthem-like escapism. Everything from Alabama Rose’s passionate vocal delivery, to the mild swagger of the instrumentation, to the intriguing poetic detail of the lyrics, leans in a decidedly fresh and uplifting direction.
The various layers rain down around you in a swiftly recognisable manner, gentle guitar riffs are contrasted by a light yet relentless beat, and despite the wash of reverb and the sense of progressive distance to the whole thing, there’s a defiant level of emotional intensity to it all – which in fact grows stronger with each minute that passes. The effect is strengthened further by each return visit to the single.
Thanks to fine writing, mighty performances, and thoughtful production, Come With Me is absolutely the kind of alternative rock go-to that deserves to and perhaps even needs for you to listen to it at volume. There’s a driving force about the piece that would let it suit the long road home as much as the early morning start – an effective calling card of a songwriter with a strong sense of audience awareness yet still a clear and concise sense of self identity. The upcoming EP is categorically one to look out for.

Brittany Ayres, known in her home state of Alabama as Alabama Rose, is an up and coming singer/songwriter who’s rewriting her underdog story through music. Born in Northern California and raised in Alabama, Rose spent her childhood years growing up on the banks of the Warrior River before her family relocated to the small mining community of West Jefferson.
Her father, step-father and grandfather were coal miners in the area, whose tireless work ethic made a lasting impression on Rose at an early age. Though Rose was raised in a family that wasn’t afraid of mineshafts and hard work, they were, however, afraid of Rose’s musical pursuits. Following years of pressure by her family against pursuing music as a career, Alabama Rose, whose moniker comes from a local bar that once stood in the small 400 person town she grew up in, is taking the reins and doing things her own way.
Rose’s new single “Come With Me”, off her sophomore EP, L.O.V.E., is a personal, if not public, anthem that encourages listeners to tune in to themselves and tune out the noise of the rest of the world, if only for a few minutes. Recorded in noted Nashville studio, The Bomb Shelter (The Alabama Shakes, Margo Price, Hurray For The Riff Raff) “Come With Me” takes listeners on an emotional road trip, winding backwards through 1970s psychedelica while making pit stops in 1960s folk pop. This single provides a heavy dose of nostalgia, while Rose’s vocals call to mind Karen O’s indie rock bravado.
