Danielle Reed aka the Girl Genius is a DMV native. She’s worked, shared stages, featured and competed with some of the best poets in the country. In 2018 she was a member of DC's National Poetry Slam team and the 2018 National Haiku Death Match Champion. In 2021, 2022 and 2023 she was a member of Rich Ink Slam Team (Richmond, VA) and the 2021 Southern Fried Haiku Death Match Champion. She also ranked top 25 in the world in the 2022 Womxn of the World Poetry Slam.
She's also been a host and bout manager for several events including the Pajama Jammie Jam Slam held 4th Fridays at Busboys and Poets, Takoma Park. She's was also a host on Keep the Mic On, a weekly live stream show that aired March 2020-2023.
Currently she resides in Baltimore, MD and works as a full time professional writer. You can catch her at venues throughout the area—or in a corner reading a book and plotting world domination. She has 5 poetry collections, Boom! Onomatopoeia” released in 2013, two short collections "Conversation with an Angry Anglerfish" and "Ransom Notes" released in late 2014 and "How to Break My Heart in 16 Pieces" a short collection of love poems released in 2015 and Last Week I Thought I Was A Toaster Oven released in 2018.
