BLACK SKI SUMMIT 2011
FEBRUARY 26 - MARCH 5
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO
Our largest fundraising event is an annual convention/event known as the NBS Black Ski Summit which currently attracts 700 – 1,000 adult participants each year. The primary purpose of this event is to support the NBS Olympic Scholarship Fund, from which the organization provides financial support for athletes of color who excel in winter sports. Our intent is to propel these young athletes to Olympic and international competition. In addition, funds from this event also support the operation of the National Brotherhood of Skiers.
The mission of the NBS is twofold. First the mission is to identify, develop, and support competitive, African American young skiing athletes who will one day compete on the United States Olympic Ski Team, and second the mission is introduce more African Americans in all areas of our country to non-conventional snowsports including skiing and snowboarding.
The National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS) was chartered in 1974. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and we operate through the efforts of dedicated volunteers.
