Jeremy Butterworth is a principal songwriter and guitarist/vocalist of the highly acclaimed Red Eye Records Alternative rock band The Bhagavad Guitars*. He is a seasoned indie rocker who brings a unique mix of emotional energy, musical skill and playfulness to the stage. He has been winning hearts and minds, especially in his local Shoalhaven area, with his solo performances playing small and large events including support act for the Eurogliders at the Shoalhaven River Festival (performed at this festival several times), 'A day in the Valley’ festival and the ‘Beyond' Festival Kangaroo Valley which featured Katie Noonan, Woodes, etc.. Jeremy is also the vocalist/guitarist of the "Bong Bong Allstars" a funk/blues/rock outfit who perform regularly in the Southern Highlands/ Shoalhaven
Jeremy' solo album - Together We Arrive is a stellar collection of solo, acoustic versions of both his solo material and his favourite Bhagavad Guitars tracks, presenting a compelling style of endearing honesty woven into emotionally charged performances. The spirit of the original songs are honoured, and complemented by a new perspective, in a smooth, rich and soulful format. The album includes an unplugged version of Just to be Sure - one of the first Bhagavad Guitars tracks to gain extensive airplay on Triple J in the late 80s/early 90s.
Together we Arrive is available on CD across the country and available online on Apple music, spotify etc. (through 'The Orchard')

*The Bhagavad Guitars were a high profile Indie band, based in Sydney in the late 80s and early 90s releasing several albums that were received with great acclaim and were given high rotation on Triple J. The band worked with producers Kevin “Caveman” Shirley (Silverchair), Phil Punch (Beasts of Bourbon) and Tony Cohen (Nick Cave). Their 1991 album, Introversion, was kept unreleased for five years after being tied up in an international record label bidding war.
Throughout the 1990’s, The Bhagavad Guitars played with international acts The Jesus and Mary Chain, Straightjacket Fits and the Verlaines, toured Australia twice with Ireland’s Hothouse Flowers, as well as playing with diverse bands such as The Go Betweens, Jenny Morris, Lubricated Goat, The Triffids, The Church, Died Pretty, Hummingbirds, Underground Lovers, The Clouds, and The Cruel Sea. In 2011 the band independently released their latest album, Unfamiliar Places with producer Nick Mainsbridge, revisiting the trademark chiming guitars and soaring harmonies that previously defined the band. The album received many outstanding reviews from around the country including 4 1/2 stars from 'Time off'. “…they have truly crafted an album that is soaring in its pop momentum and genuinely brilliant in its depth of song craft.” “…a newer generation of fans can see what all the fuss was about…"

Recently I've been performing in the outdoor, covid safe environmen, of the vast Kangaroo Valley Friendly Inn Beer garden. it's a weekend, weather permitting, arrangement playing from 12.00 till 3.00 and travelling through a broad musical landscape with Mike Hammond on guitar and brass. It's been great to keep the live alive and nice to be much appreciated down there at the local.
Also, it seems "Together we Arrive is getting more online listens than ever before in recent months. Happy to sse this as it was always intended to be an enduring album with plenty of depth.
"Trickle down economy" (youtube only) proved to be a fitting song for the recent climate strike events. Next big show is Shoalhaven river festival 2019
Check out the youtube for my live recording of this clever catchy political song

Very excited to be a part of this impressive line up at The 'Beyond festival', Kangaroo Valley Nov 23 - 25th, including Katie Noonan, Woodes, Hot Potato Band, and many more excellent artists and also advocates for social Justice - stronger recognition and respect of Indigenous people and their issues, addressing climate change, compassion for refugees, combatting domestic violence. Some of my pet passions . Great themes, great vibe.
The album goes out to radio across the country this week. radio 2BOB on the central coast have just received it and already made it album of the week - hopefully more following suit elsewhere. Digital plays are gradually increasing as more people discover it. The river festival and KV beer festival and power FM radio appearance etc. have pushed the music to new audiences. The whole album is now also on youtube. I'm still getting regular feedback and messages from people saying they love it, which is really nice to be getting that feedback. I will be picking up again next year doing this solo thing, after a trip to Tasmania, with more live shows and continuing to promote this piece of work that I'm quite proud of. Cheers Jezza
Great gig coming up this Saturday supporting the Eurogliders at the Shoalhaven river festival. I'll be on stage 7.25pm just before the Eurogliders and then the fireworks. The weather prediction looks like one of those loveley summary evenings - great to be outdoors at a festival
Album Review:
Together We Arrive has clearly been a labour of love for Jeremy, featuring carefully crafted songs and arrangements, with thoughtful lyrics exploring just about every sunlit avenue and dark alcove of the human experience …….. a collection of songs with soul and substance, delivered with a combination of musical skill, tasteful restraint, artistic conviction, and at times, knowing playfulness.
Stand out tracks abound, but for my ears the almost anthemic With You Again and the beautiful Dion are among those I’m most looking forward to hearing performed live.
