Lemuel D. Williams is from Portland,Maine but grew up in the hood of Montbello, located in Denver, Colorado. He was influenced by his mother who formerly sang as one of the Alto backup vocalist for the legendary Gladys Knight. Lemuel (who prefers to be called Lem) began playing the drums at the age of three without any training. Shortly after picking up his first pair of drumsticks, Williams started playing for his grandfather’s church, Greater Mount Olive. As he will point out: singing is in his genes, but drumming is in his blood. Motivated by his favorite drummers, he quickly learned how to play drums by ear. This skill propelled him into his craft and made him the energetic drummer he is today. His nickname, the “Drummagician,” was given to him by members of his audience.
Over the next several years, Williams enjoyed a myriad of drumming opportunities. His talent has taken him to Canada, Arizona, Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Wyoming, and many other states and provinces to play for different artists. He enjoys a very busy performing schedule as well as being the Drum Instructor at MSU/DIME Denver. He is currently involved in many different music scenes, such as jazz, rhythm and blues, soul, pop, gospel, cumbia, funk, pop, latin, theater and countless others. He has played for National Recording Artists such as Chante Moore, ReSurface, Dee Lucas, and Tony Exum Jr., Warren G,Talib Kwali and Flava Flave. He is currently the drummer for Jyemo Club (whom they have recently played RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATER in Morrison,CO), Bryce Merritt out of Nashville, Sax Artist Monique Brooks Roberts, Music Lab and his new home church Restoration Christian Fellowship. He also plays for several local artists including Class Acts (his own band), Last Chapter, Sheryl Renee, Michael Williams, We's Us and several others. He has previously played for local artists including: Taylor Scott Band, Public Safety,Soul School, Men of Faith Gospel Quartet, Lenny Kravitz Tribute Band, Altune & The Kool Kompany, Kollaboration, Rising Star Baptist, Now Faith Church to name a few.

Be sure to check him out performing “Brickhouse” by The Commodores which won him the title of the #1 drummer in the Mountain Region for the Zildjian Drummer Love Contest in 2011. This earned him a feature article in DRUM! Magazine.

On this day, I officially became the new Drum Professor at Metro State College in the D.I.M.E. program.

This band was just to immature and wanted to go on Vacations instead of tour. I became the father of the trip and the drummer. These guys didnt want to practice properly and enjoy drinking more than being professinal.I lost over 600 bucks with this band on 1 tour and did 2 tours with them. Imagine that. I had to leave, but good luck to them.

A lot of you have been asking but to answer you all, I DO NOT PLAY WITH THE TONY EXUM BAND anymore. This is the only place you can get the real story from me. Here on my website. But Tony Exum admittedly did not value me as a drummer and I refuse to play for ANYONE that does not. It was TIME 2 GO.

I enjoyed my 4yr run with this band and i take nothing for granted with them. I was a team player, I helped with money, i voulunteered for many things just to help out.etc... It was time to move on. Lets just say people get what they deserve.
